Prioritizing Practice #3: Finishing and Shooting
New schedule at The Rim!
Psychologically, this is terrible. Players tend to make worse shot-selection decisions, miss more shots, and get in the habit of running forward before finishing their shot. In my experience, this is due to the panicked urgency created by coaches and fans screaming at players to "Follow their shot!"
This is my first year living in Nottingham in the fall, and I am loving it. I am so excited to get our Nottingham Youth Association programs running, and helping to build up the skill level in Nottingham. Registration is about to go live this week, so I won't give the details away, but I want to make sure players are as ready as possible going into evaluations and tryouts for their rec and school teams. For that reason, I will be hosting a program for 3-8th grade players on Sundays at the school for the 4 weeks before the season starts - October 21st - November 11th. This is a drop-in class, so anyone can attend any or all of the sessions based on what their schedule allows.
I used to be a very slow and weak basketball player, and I always dreamed of what it would be like to have blazing speed like the top NBA guards.
