Wildflowers [Drabble]
In her heart of hearts, Talia al Ghul found herself still very confused. Not that she would admit that. Of course not. But why help this wandering, lost boy? From him she'd gained the ire of her father, an exile, and no small measure of vulnerability. Because even as she pretended to be a sphinx, mysterious and inscrutable - Jason had the uncanny ability to see her heart. Perhaps it was his natural inclination to be mistrusting. But Talia liked to think it was something else. He could tell her what she wanted and felt and how her motivations drove her, and she would not be able to deny a thing. Batman couldn't do that. Perhaps he was too fixated on her bloodline, her father, her so-called evils, to see her for herself. But Jason saw. And that was terrifying and comforting both. And it was why she refused to let him go from her sight. Ra's had judged her unworthy. Batman had rejected her. Damian, too, had picked Gotham's urban legend, its hero and menace both, over her. Whoever she'd offered her heart to, it had been trampled. Except by this once-broken boy who'd been formed up into something greater. Someone greater than his mentor. On that cliffside, when he was but a mute child, she had told Jason Todd he gave Bruce Wayne hope. But in truth, it was her he gave hope.
bastardhood replied to your post: I really should get out of bed. I could always mess around with a handmade blow torch while sitting in your bed. ---- That would certainly get me moving.

Darkness.
A friend and dear companion. Always for creatures such as herself.
And for him.
It was easy enough to find him, even though he had mastered disappearing. She had taught him well during those years. Seen his potential. Watched it blossom until he was a remarkable man. Surpassing his first master in her mind, in many ways. Jason. A miracle of fate. Talia smiled in the shade of night, her outline in front of the window traced with the specklings of stars. "Jason." she murmured. He was here. Talia knew because she watched - mostly from afar. And mostly for his sake; his safety. It was difficult to bring him up, to give him a new life and equip him with all that he would need to be a new man. Renewed. Remade. She could not leave him on his on path without knowing. Jason Todd bore watching. And in turn received Talia's generous gifts.
She had no doubt that he'd detected her already. But he could humor her. It was fun, to sneak up on him. Like infiltrating her Beloved's sanctum. Talia slipped into a shaft of moonlight. She wore her uniform, leather with intricate detail and hints of lavender. It had been too long, perhaps, since she last donned it. It felt good. "I do hope you're free for a visit." Her smile light in the black of night when he eyes set upon the man.
