okay so nancy’s been called nance for as long as she can remember . it’s literally been the only & most common nicknames for her , which she didn’t mind for quite a while . it was charming , cute ------- but she only let people who she was familiar with use it . then she met this dude from scotland : ewan . ( the silent spy . i imagine it took more than a few days for her to solve this mystery , so let’s say . . . a month at best . ) he was nothing short of sweet , nothing short of polite & friendly . ( she didn’t know what he was doing behind her back , what information he was digging up on her . ) she trusted him . she depended on him to give her information & in depending on him , she made herself an open book . she made herself transparent , let her guard down . she let him call her nance after a month [ or a while ] of knowing her . then it was revealed that he was planning to blackmail her with her mother’s death , to lie to her by claiming that her mother was still alive & in hiding , that coming to scotland would be the only way to find her again . even in the final scene , after all this has been discovered , he still calls her nance . how uncomfortable do you think that made her feel ? to be called something so personal by someone who wanted to use something extremely personal against her ? because of this experience she’s been uncomfortable with people calling her nance .
