Happy Birthday to Greek brother from another mother @nikonewnew 🎂🎈🎉🇬🇷🧿❤️📿🌻🌈🕺🏻🥂💥🍾💋 wishing all your birthday wishes come true filled with love! #throwback🔙 like bats our on and #nyc night! 🌃🦇🦇✨🌙 At your request in honor of your birthday asking all my friends the same if you can, please donate to@batconservationinternational🦇✨ 🖤 (Linius in Bio) 🦇 BCI is a nongovernmental organization working to conserve the world's bats and their habitats through conservation, education, and research efforts. I have loved bats since I was a child, and they need our help now more than ever! Bats are instrumental to pest control, eating mosquitos, flies, moths, and invasive species that harm native ecosystems. A single colony of bats can consume TONS of insects, many that would otherwise eat valuable food crops. It’s estimated that bats contribute $3billion in pest control annually! AND though most people don’t realize it, are also important pollinators! Over 530 species of plants depend on bats for pollination including bananas, mangos, and avocados! Bats help spread seeds for nuts, figs and cacao, and we also wouldn’t have plants like agave or the iconic saguaro cactus without their help! A huge threat to local colonies white-nose syndrome is affecting bats in our own backyard and BCI has been instrumental in studying and combating it. The disease was discovered in a cave in Schoharie County outside of Albany, NY in 2006. The pathogen has spread to at least 36 states and seven provinces of Canada, killing whole colonies of bats. One colony can range from several hundred bats to several thousand, and some colonies can range into the millions! WNS can wipe out a colony in a matter of WEEKS! Researchers have described finding cave floors littered with bat carcasses, sometimes many thousands in a single cave. From 2006-2019 it’s been found that more than six million bats have died in Canada and the United States due to white nose syndrome. #batconservationinternational is working to help stop colony collapse here in our back yard, as well https://www.instagram.com/p/CExM010j4ti/?igshid=9cpzwb1ojhqc
Also found in my old bedroom my #batconservationinternational poster that I got from one of my best friends in high school. It hung in my room for years! #batconservation #bats #cutebats #poster #memories (at San Antonio, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzo5Cz8Hgvu/?igshid=3vf313eegjeg
