#Repost @agouraanimalcarecenter with @repostapp ・・・ As you can imagine, not every pup that arrives at the shelter has been treated with the love, care, and compassion that they deserve. If they are lucky, a new collar or bandana is all it takes for someone to notice them and fall in love. Other times, much more time and care is needed. A main component of caring for our pups is bathing. Sometimes they are so matted they can hardly walk or are covered in ticks and fleas or have never been bathed as was the case with the 51 dogs confiscated from a hoarding situation. (Upper right photo) Other times they are just plain stinky when they arrive at the shelter like Beowulf (center photo upper). Or part of a large litter of puppies who haven't quite learned how to not step or roll where they shouldn't! We also try to bathe those pups in need of a bath pre spay/neuter surgery so they enter surgery and their new home clean and fresh. And all our transfer dogs arriving from other LA County Shelters like Emma and Tequilla (upper and lower corners) receive a SPA treatment upon their arrival to Agoura. A bath can make such a difference for our homeless pups...many leave the groom feeling so much better, some literally prancing in delight! The tub we have at the shelter is not an ideal set up and lifting big dogs like Beowulf and Emma and bathing multiple dogs makes the bathing task all that much harder. Volunteer Stephanie felt the pups and our hard working volunteers needed a better solution so she started a go fund me page to help raise funds for a stainless steel, ideal for sanitizing professional bath tub with a ramp...goal $3500...of which $750 has already been raised in just a few short days!
