The city of Budapest is famed for its beautiful architecture, incredible food and its offering of thermal baths and spas.
Gellert Baths Or Szechenyi Thermal Baths
Which One Is Best For You?
Gellert Bath
Gellert Bath is the most famous Art Nouveau thermal bath in Budapest, Hungary as well as in Europe. Gellert Spa, founded in 1918, is soon to be 100 years old, and visiting the bath is indeed a beautiful and historical experience. You can visit the main hall free of charge, or spend a whole day of relaxation in the “Palace of Baths” as Gellert Bath is often referred to.
Gellert Bath opened in 1918 offering medicinal water treatments using the same deep underground springs the Knights of St John used in the 12th century, and later on the Turks to feel the invigorating powers of the mineral-rich waters.
Szechenyi Baths
Szechenyi Baths (built-in 1913) is the most visited and much-praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas/steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Szechenyi Spa Baths are in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions.
The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.
