Why is it “no shirt, no shoes, no service”?

Like... honestly isn’t it more important they have some undiEs on or at least pants? Eh?

Or can I just walk into the gas station with solely shoes and a shirt with no socks and everything just... just shirt and shoes.

And would they still serve me then? Or would I be serving them?
