#fallforcostume Day 6: Yellow Laura's Emperor Ryuuki costume was made almost entirely of hand-dyed silk, which meant we did a lot of yellow (and purple) dyework. I created the design on the front panel using traditional batik dyeing techniques. It's all fabric dye, not paint, which means that the fabric drapes and flows with no change in texture. Some of the design was resist-dyed with a brush, while the swirling border pattern was done with thick dye paste and a stamp. I'm not sure whether I did more dye work on Ryuuki or on Tomoe's hand-painted kimono, but we did them within a year of each other, and by the end of that season I never wanted to see another package of dye again. 😅 #costuming #cosplay #saiunkokumonogatari #fabricdye #batikdyeing https://www.instagram.com/p/CGAhW8LjQra/?igshid=jl9m669l88ja
