//KNOW WHAT SHIT I NEED? MORE FIRST PERSON NARRATIVE.
Yes Tumblr it’s me, Lo, fresh off my vaycay and immediately speaking mostly to myself on the dash. I’ve been consuming a lot of first-person POV fiction lately. Not purposefully, but two of the several books I blazed through while rested up for my femur—Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects and Krysten Ritter’s Bonfire—were both written in first-person. And Dan and I livened up our long car trips this past week by listening to mystery-thriller Alice Isn’t Dead (from Welcome To Nightvale Presents).
I was always taught that first person was a “lazy”, “easier” way of writing that resulted in inferior prose and I’ve carried that opinion for a long-ass time (I’m THAT person who puts a book back on the library shelf at the first sight of any “I” not preluded by a quotation mark). What I’ve learned recently is that masterful use of the first person allows authors to weave potent, personal stories that are twisted by the lead character’s biases and blindspots. They also give the audience a much more intimate look at the narrator: how do they relate what they see in the world around them back to the reader, what vocabulary do they use when telling their own story in the privacy of their own head? How heavily do their memories and biases interfere with their actions in the present?
Clarissa’s a difficult kid to write sometimes because her morality, values, and sense of what is and isn’t appropriate runs so skewed compared to the average person’s. Some first person drabbles might be an entertaining way of getting inside her head more and better understanding her inner workings. How would she tell her own story...?

TRAINER TIPS
IF YOU’RE LIKE ME AND OCCASIONALLY MANAGE TO CORRUPT A FILE WHEN SAVING A BUNCH OF ICONS IN A HURRY (because I don’t do the full “export layers as frames” process when I’m making fresh new icons and not editing a batch of 100+ preexisting images, I just save them individually), know this: so long as they display properly in Preview you can still salvage them even if Photoshop/your editing program of choice refuses to open the file. This is for Mac, but there’s probably a Windows equivalent for this process: Open the file in Preview > File > Export as PDF. Then all you need to do is open the PDF in Photoshop and Save As the file format you actually need. Bam, you’ve salvaged your file.
It’s easy to fuck this shit up now and again without noticing especially if you’re as careless as me, so this is a good hack to keep in your back pocket in case you ever need it.

// This makes damn sense. I love it! I mean poor Clarissa tho’ D:
//Glad you enjoyed, friendo!! I wouldn’t feel too sorry for Clarissa, though... Lots of people have internalised homophobia, but most don’t act on it by catfishing girls and then assaulting them
ON ONE HAND I’M LIKE “man I really want Clarissa to have a positive queer experience” while on the other I’m like “...jail her. FUCKEN jail her right now, do it do it do it”. The eternal struggle of RPing douchebags.

// I love your HC about the atmosphere in Rocket but also Bashou would literally be dead lmao
//LMAO I FEEL. For what it’s worth I also headcanon that murdering or assaulting your fellow Rockets is considered treason within the team (hence why Clarissa got thrown into mother fucking solitary confinement for what she did to Jared), but if Bashou existed within my inner-Team Rocket he would’ve definitely gotten some shit at least. :’) He’s safer with you than me smh

((MMM THIS IS GOOD SHIT))
//I am pleasantly surprised so many people seem to be digging this post. Tumblr RP as a whole seems to avoid hard takes like these (not that I don’t understand that impulse to avoid painful topics) but me I like to LEEAAANN INTO THAT SHIT
srsly someone please help me fix my theme it’s so broken
//Tis the season to finally figure out Clarissa’s stance on Ghosts and the supernatural (maybe). Her unawakened psychic abilities resonate and cause headaches and paranoia when she crosses paths with other sources of psychic power. We know that already. What about Ghosts, though...
PURIFICATION IN PROGRESS...
