Battered Buns Cosplay! 🐇
Was feeling a bit sad this morning since @artofprice moved out of Vonnhaüs to start the next chapter but shortly after I got tagged from a user that cosplayed my Battered Buns! This is the one of the first time my pencil drawings has been recreated like this and it made me smile. So big shoutout to @dreagon26, who also has the image on their leg, thank you and great job! 💛☺️

A character I created for the Battered Bunnies contest on CG Cookie
Phew, finally done. Here's my Battered Bunny Crew for an Art Contest at Concept Cookie when we only needed one character. Here's some quick story on them from left to right.
Pandora (sitting down) - she used to be a part of the California Canines (a rival gang) but deserted them after she was eventually charmed by Rex. Now she sits by his side as he rules over the streets.
Fuzzy (red body warmer) - a criminal that was locked up and experimented on, no one gave him any sympathy as he lost his mind due to all the drugs in the name of Science. He eventually broke free and found his way to this clan. Strangely enough he cares about Cinnamon and only listens to her.
King Rex - from a poor family, he ran away and was raised on the streets. King fought tooth and nail to get to the top where he is respected by his gang members. A compassionate but brutal fighter, he now rules over the streets with his Queen, Pandora.
Harlequin - female twin of Sable. Both of them come from a wealthy family where love and affection is not given. Since the parents neglect them and prefer to throw money at them, Sable and Harlequin go to the streets in search of attention. She cares about appearance above all and is the only one in the gang to care about having "clean and fashionable" clothes.
Cinnamon - abandoned by her parents for not being a boy, she was raised by the Battered Bunnies. This anger has caused her to be violent and sadistic. Don't be fooled by her innocent and cute demeanour. Many victims have fallen prey to it.
Sable - male twin of Harlequin. Blood thirsty and yearning for attention from his parents, he and his sister run riots around the streets. While he may be wealthy, he doesn't care about clothes and fashion like his sister. He loves nothing more than a good brawl and strangely finds his torn clothes symbolic of his "street cred".
I really enjoyed this competition. I decided to push the boat out and design the whole gang which meant many hours of self hating myself haha.
I think this is one of those pieces where you find yourself improving, I’ve spent around 90-100 hours on this and I’ve certainl never spent this much time developing characters before. It was incredibly fun though!

This week's livestream will be on the process of going from a greyscale picture to adding beautiful bits of color. Majority of the time artists start in a strong greyscale painting to help understand values (brightness) of the over-all piece, but what comes next? In today's stream we will be showing that it's not just a matter of slapping on a new layer and adding a color mode, but working with the already established values for the painting.
We are also announcing the winners of the #batteredbunnies contest! We wanted to thank everyone for being apart of this spring 2016 seasonal contest with adding tons and tons of entries and really exploring the world of the "Battered Bunnies". My entry to the CGCookie Battered Bunny contest. Wish I had more time to work on it but alas. Here's the blurb I wrote for them: Bonnie: Very fast and with a chaotic, close combat fighting style, there’s a lot of collateral when Bonnie is around. She’s very fond of dresses, the more ripped the better. She sought to join the Battered Bunnies when schoolyard bullies were no longer enough. Clyde: His lanky frame with the added long reach of his bat makes him a mid-range menace. Once someone gets close to him however, he’s at a disadvantage as he’s not the strongest fist fighter. One of the earlier members of the Battered Bunnies, he ended up pairing with Bonnie due to her strength at close range. With her darting in, out and around Clyde, they make for a disastrous whirlwind of spikes and nails.
