The Fool 🃏

The “Fool” card is so much deeper than its name suggests. The fool isn’t an archetype but embodies pure spirit. This card is present among all the other cards, as it’s infinitie, hence its number is zero. This is my 47/78 card illustration complete!

When this card is drawn you are called to take the leap of faith and trust in yourself, the universe, and that any experience gained is better than none at all. You would rather go for it now and enjoy the process and the journey you would embark on then to sit and wonder if it’s worth it while gaining nothing. As you radiate and embrace this energy, you will see more opportunities open for you so it’s a reminder that the world is your oyster but action is necessary to see these changes.

Charon, the Death Ferryman + Humble Shopkeep" 💀

Literally "late to the game" as I played through "Hades" this past week and very much enjoyed it! In one of my rare fanart moments, I wanted to draw my favorite character, Charon as appreciation for this game existing. I loved his design and he appeared with his wares when I needed him most through my loop runs!

The game is surprising funny and overall just an actually FUN game to play. So if you're looking for a dungeon crawler that actually feels like your leveling up each time while gaining new opportunities/loot to help with the next loop, this may be worth checking out! 🩸💀🩸

· 6 · The Monster in the Mirror · 🪞

Since last year’s @drawtober challenge, I have been posting a narrative as if I partnered with Fromsoft to create a Halloween flavored game. This is the conclusion to this journey and continues from the last post...

Also, Thank you to everyone who has followed this journey, took guesses of what was happening, who was doing this to each of these “bosses”, and just getting hyped over the art of collective story telling. Your energy was motivating and made me want to continue pouring all my effort and thoughtful care into each one. It reminded me of the love for this craft and will take this energy with me in future projects. You make me love what I do even more than I thought possible!

And to those asking for some physical form of this “Monsteria” story, I am looking to create a limited batch of zines (small books) with bonus content and behind the scene WIPs. I will work on creating this after sending out the upcoming Kickstarter art books next month! Stay tuned and happy late Drawtober! -Timothy (vonnart)

· 5 · The Greenhouse Ghost Sisters · 🕯️ I’m creating a short scenario and posting a narrative as if I partnered with Fromsoft to create a Halloween flavored game! So, to continue on from the previous post…

“You discover that what you are seeking may be found east in the ceremonial grand greenhouse. There is an uneasy calmness as you traverse towards the plains to get there. Every lamppost on the path is aflame but at some point, they are replaced with a strange blue hue instead and nothing past that point could be heard besides your own steps. Eventually you arrive and although it’s dark out, you still can see such beauty in the craftsmanship when you get close. From the marble statues to the decadent tile patterning covering the grounds and the building itself.

Contrast to the darkness outside, there is a bluish glow coming from within the glass frames of the greenhouse. And odder yet, a scattering of movement flittering through the blue soaked air like birds but not quite as large.

As you push through the beautifully carved entrance, it’s as if you stepped into another world. The foliage is overly lush and climbing the walls. The movement turned out to be hundreds of moths and you figure this place must double as a conservatory. It feels otherworldly as the entire place is lit with blue candles positioned throughout. You walk around for a moment, forgetting why you came here in the first place. You go to smell some of the flowers near the middle as you notice a faint glow growing closer in your peripherals. And that’s when you see them…

…Two floating figures, wrapped in old frayed linen, carrying a brass lamp and surrounded by moths helping hold their fabrics. You fall aside and let them pass as if unnoticed and see underneath the bodies black footprints imprinted in the ground trailing them. They make their way to one of the candles that have burnt out and position themselves to relight it. Something deep within tells you that you must extinguish all the candles to understand the mystery here. And without further thought, you find the candle nearest to you…”

· 4 · The Village of Lost Identities ·

Even though @drawtober has long since ended, I will now continue creating my final 3 prompts. Big thanks to those who patiently waited since October. I’m creating a short scenario and posting a narrative as if I partnered with Fromsoft to create a Halloween flavored game! 🎃

So, to continue on from the previous post…

“You cannot reach the upper levels of the castle upon returning, so instead you traverse westward. You make your way to a few standing buildings that still appear in tact from the outside. The largest one is unlocked and you make your way inside. You gradually come to understand that what initially seems to be a vast hall is actually a kind of laboratory. There are plenty of electrical wires and experiments encased in glass. At the far end, there stands a wall of windows that look outside to a vast plain.

As you approach, you notice movement outside, but it’s still too faint to make out in the moonlight. Once within reach of the glass, you notice a sea of bodies meandering aimlessly outside, each holding what appears to be a headstone. Upon closer inspection, you notice their bodies have been stitched together with varying-sized limbs and many of dissimilar tones. They each have the appearance of a single human body but are rather indistinguishable, making it impossible to tell if they are even men or women.

One of these curious beings walks closer to you on the other side of the glass and it’s as if you’ve been seen. While they stand there, you can’t help but notice the headstone they are clutching. They cling to it as though it were the last remaining aspect of who they once were. Before you can think on that further, an ungodly howl is belted from behind the stone and as if on cue, every other headstone turns to face you momentarily before charging at the window.

You turn and start backing away as you hear a loud shattering of glass and a loud commotion of footsteps running into the hall. A seemingly endless crowd of these strange stitched bodies swarms into the room and you have no chance to run, so you choose to hold your ground and let the fight commence.”

· 3 · The Fog Brewer ·

Throughout Drawtober, I will be posting a narrative as if I partnered with Fromsoft to create a Halloween flavored game till the end of October! 🎃

So, to continue on from the previous post...

“The fog only thickens as you continue your way through the forest. As if a mirage, you come across a tall iron cast wall, going as far in each direction as the eye can see, only at a slight curve. The fog’s origin seemingly coming from the other side as it appears to pour over the top. You follow down the wall until a staircase becomes visible on its edge. The stairs are wooden yet not worn but certainly slightly eroded from the strange moisture in the air.

Once you climb to the top, the realization hits all at once. It wasn’t an iron wall but a massive cauldron, embedded deep in the earth carrying a lake’s worth of bubbling liquid. There are some dead trees and rubbish floating but nothing that could be considered alive. The fumes are rather pungent and it becomes clear that these water’s are not meant to be touched.

Just then, You hear a faint humming and through the distance you make out the voice is coming from a vessel, paddling through the lake. The front of what appears to be a boat is covered in years of hardened wax from the multitude of excessive candles lit on top.

To see better, you step forward onto what seems to be the remains of a dock but it shakes and begins to fall apart. This causes a rippling on the water’s surface, alerting your presence to her. She quickly positions herself to face you and swipes her paddle hard into the water, sending a vertical wave your direction. With some quick maneuvering, you manage to jump on to one of the massive dead trees floating nearby. Shortly after, a brightly colored glass potion bottle is being hurled at you. This assault has no signs of slowing down so you being to plan the counter attack.”

· 2 · The Feral Blacksmith and His Sons ·

Throughout @drawtober I will be posting a narrative as if I partnered with Fromsoft to create a Halloween flavored game till the end of October! 🎃

So, to continue on from the previous post...

“With the vampire slain, you obtain an intricate brass key, which allows access to the graveyard (where you can meet the shopkeeper) AND the first floor of the mansion you first awakened in front of. You learn there that the tall, black forest is where you must travel to next. As you make your way out of the village, the amber fog thickens almost immediately at the tree’s edge under a full moon's light. It’s just below eye level so while you can still see, anything that is beneath your neck gets somewhat lost.

Eventually you find an old gate and a “No Trespassing” sign marking off a large section of the forest with looming, branchless trees lined up in straight, angular rows. As you unintentionally make your presence known, the fog starts to pulse from far away. You notice there are three forces causing the fog movements. One is much slower, while the other two seem to increase their speed towards you. Then, without warning, those two split in different directions to surround you in a seemingly triangular formation.

As if on cue, all movement suspends and the fog settles once again. When you look around, you see a pair of still, glowing eyes in each of their directions through the fog. Everything hangs motionless until you make the first move….

…And with that, all 3 resume charging straight at you with the clanging of metal and noises of what seems to be a language (unfamiliar to your own ears) heading recklessly in your direction."
