March Madness: Curse or Killer?
Done for the March Madness Art Event
Castletown's New Plague: Murder Curse or Murder Case?
Content Warning: Needles, Murder
Strange murder cases keep coming across Detective Aria's desk, unidentifiable citizens in ill fitting clothing. Cause of death, cardiac arrest. It wouldn't be so strange, but this is the 41st case in 2 months, the townsfolk have started rumors of a curse. "It must be a sign of Ganon's return" they say.
"Bullshit" growls Aria. "There is definitely something, or someone, responsible for this."
Meet Marina, an adorable young zora who has made quite the name for herself at Hyrule University School of Medicine.
Despite being top of her class, she often disappears for long stretches of time, sometimes whole days. She says she is doing research, but she is never found in the libraries or laboratories of the university.
Marina must be conducting her "research" off-campus.
...
In a few days a new case will come across Aria's desk.
But in the meantime… this little murderous mischievous lady is up to no good...
Epic Battle Between Good and Evil, but the lines are blurred
I don't normally like writing action scenes, but his just flowed, and before I knew it, it had shaped into this epic battle between clear and twisted. I love the way this turned out, please enjoy!
The battle of light and dark has finally ended, the bad guys won… but it surprisingly isn’t all that bad. Error gets to destroy unfinished or corrupted AU’s, Dust, Horror, Killer, and Cross’s AU’s were moderately fixed, and while things were slightly worse for most AU’s it wasn’t completely terrible under Nightmare’s rule. After all, you can’t have negativity and despair without positivity, and he knows this. The troubling thing though, is the heroes that lost…
In a last ditch effort to win Ink tossed back a vial of pure red… it was a mistake… Dream tried to stop him, but it was too late. Ink was engulfed in rage and began turning the tide of the battle, that is, until Nightmare came to face him. Ink, knowing he was outmatched, turned to the only one who could match the god of negativity, although in his current state he was too weak…
With a quick teleport Ink was behind Dream shoving a positive apple into the guardian of positivity's mouth, much to his horror. He tried to spit it out, but the sweet juice still dripped onto his tongue and he froze… he began scarfing the apple down wildly. Blue did his best to protect the two as whatever was happening played out with his friends… he later wished he hadn’t… Ink supplied more golden apples with a sinister smirk as Dream gorged himself on the sweet succulent dreams of the multiverse.
By the time the apples were gone, Dream was different. As he stood a black sludge began pouring out of his sockets and his mouth, he choked on it and collapsed to his knees as Ink simply watched. The entire battle froze to watch the scene unfolding. Nightmares eye-light went pinprick as tears welled in Dreams sockets while he continued to cough up more of the viscous black sludge; but unlike Nightmares, it was glowing gold, it was warm and inviting. The same kind of warm and inviting a light in the middle of crushing darkness was, only to find out that it was the esca of an angler fish, ready to swallow you whole.
When Dream finally stood, he was no longer Dream. His usual smile, once warm and genuine, was now sinister and calculating. Then he was gone. Nightmare whirled around just in time to grab an arrow, it was bigger, sharper, faster, glowed brighter than before, and centimeters away from his skull. Nightmare tossed it aside, and the battle began again. The Star Sans's became ruthless, they were no longer fighting for the multiverse, or even just to survive, now the two were out for dust. Everyone noticed this, including Error who wrapped Blue in his strings, trying to save his poor friend, but before he could send Blue to safety a figure teleported in front of his portal.
Ink.
Error glanced between Ink, the portal, and Blue; then set Blue down. He readied his strings and Ink smirked. The battle was on. Blue turned to run, he didn’t even care where he was running to now, he couldn't trust his enemies, he couldn’t trust his friends, he just needed to get out of there. Just as he made it to the edge of the battle field, the edge of freedom, he slipped on a puddle of ink, ink that hadn’t been there moments before. He watched in horror as his ‘friends’ limped over to him. No, they weren’t his friends anymore, but maybe he could get his friends back.
They had lost the battle and Ink was trying to take them back to Dream’s realm, but Blue refused to go, not until Ink had taken a drink of his yellow vial. Ink scowled at this, but relented and nodded, tipping the yellow vial back and letting it drip out and into his mouth. When Ink came too he was absolutely appalled by what had happened, what he had done, to his enemies, to his friend. They set back off into Dreams realm.
As soon as they were back, Dream hugged Ink with promises that it would be ok, that they would win next time. He coughed into his hand and turned back to Ink. Then he forced his lips onto Ink's. In less than a second Ink’s eye-lights returned to a sharp, merciless, bright red. Dream had slipped the red ink to him mouth to mouth, just as they had planned beforehand. They both knew their mutual friend well enough to know his stipulation about going back with them, and since he was unable to traverse AU’s himself and they needed a strong, skilled fighter like him, they could begin training, Blue simply watched all of this play out in horror at the scene unfolding before him. Was all hope truly lost?
The Multiverse had been stable under Nightmare’s rule for months now, but he was always uneasy, he knew that they would come back, creatures like they had become didn’t just give up. They had once just wanted to maintain balance in the multiverse, but now? Now they weren’t thinking about the end goal at all, now, the only thing that they were thinking about was winning, and they wanted it so bad that they were willing to flip themselves entirely to get it. He only hoped that they had mercy on poor Blueberry's soul.
When they attacked again, they led with Blue. It was just Blue, the others nowhere in sight. It was still Blue, but his LV was startlingly high, almost as high as that of Killer or Dust. Another sign that something was wrong, was the new twitch that he had apparently gained in the last half a year of absence. Other than that though, you would never know that he was a different Blueberry. Papyrus would fall down if he knew what his brother had become.
Error was the one to rush to Blue. Blue had been the only person he would call a ‘friend’ even though they had often met on opposite sides of the battle Blue held no prejudices to him and kept an open mind. Error he had searched tirelessly for a way to get him back, but he hadn’t even been able to find him, so to see Blue alright short of a few twitches was such a relief. That is, until Blue fired at him.
Error just barely dodged the barrage of bones flung his way, their tips filed to deadly point. Blue was sharper now, watched more of the battlefield as he fought. The others came out to assist Error, surely they didn't need Nightmare to take down little boy Blue; but Ink and Dream had accounted for that and launched their own counter attacks, Ink leapt down from the cover of trees, using his brush as a volatile club, while Dream remained in the cover of trees and shot from every angle, teleporting from cover to cover. They didn’t know how the Star Sans’s were beating them, but it was clear that they weren't going to win alone.
Cross quickly vanished to report to Nightmare, he was only gone for seconds though, then he was back, leaping between the trees trying to counter Dream, the others also fired stray bones into the trees trying to hit the menace with a bow while also dodging and attacking Ink and Blue as well. The three of them had begun to work deadly efficiently and it was terrifying.
Just as Error, Cross, Dust, Horror, and Killer were cornered, about to lose, Nightmare showed up. He had grown stronger as well, now openly feeding off of the negativity from the AU’s, but the sight before him made him still. These were no longer good guys, these were guys that once they had won, would be ruthless in looking for the next challenge. They were no longer trying to protect the AU’s, now that had become Nightmare and his crew's job, And it was going to be near impossible if they didn’t start getting better exponentially.
Thankfully though, with Nightmare’s arrival, things were starting to look up, they were now hitting Dream with a few of their shots, and Nightmare’s extra appendages were helping to fend off Ink and Dream, Error was doing his best to help, setting up traps for the heroes and flitting around the battlefield. Suddenly, Error yelled and violently tugged upwards on his strings, the Star Sans’s pinpricks shrunk as Dream was ensnared in the glowing blue, power sapping, strings and yanked from the cover of trees.
With Dream captured they could focus less on their surroundings and more on Ink and Blue who had suspiciously stopped fighting. Instead Ink leapt up to grab Dream and pulled the three of them down into a green ink splotch on the grass that they hadn’t even seen until the three were already disappearing through it, by then, it was too late. They all knew that the Star San’s would be back and, though shameful, they were all terrified of the next time their paths would cross.
