💔 What was my muse’s first heartbreak?
Some unnamed romance pre-rose. He’s loved and lost and loved and lost again. He understands now that the nature of relationships change, learned how to communicate and connect in his own ways, etc. But he didn’t always, always a romantic, open about his attractions and interests*. Probably high school crushes he was overly affectionate with, maybe even creeped somebody out unintentionally. he’s had to learn respect over the years, and so anybody who shows blatant disrespect is deplorable in his eyes.
One non-Rose heart break was Sunshine Justice. Constantly on the road they could never be more than just a fling. He couldn’t stay, his music was more important. But Sunshine understood that and they’ve been friends. Maybe he’ll try and rekindle that going forward, who knows?
Rose overall was the most devastating to him, obviously, because it wasn’t a natural drifting apart. It was death, and even though the decision was pre-meditated, they had made it work for over a decade. He had learned to communicate his feelings, grow as people together, even though she wasn’t a person. He wouldn’t be who he was, as emotionally developed, without that connection. He wouldn’t be as good a father as he is without that connection. He wouldn’t be able to be the soothing soul he is today without Rose. With her, he grew. With Rose, he flowered. And after she died, Greg withered.
But he’s beginning to blossom again, he’s been given new purpose as Sadie’s manager, made more friends than ever, started to reconnect with Sunshine Justice, started to be more outgoing like he used to be. He’ll find love again, when it’s time.
* Marty knew he liked bigger folk. Andy knew he liked bigger folk. Greg didn’t hide that at ALL.
