19. Who is an author that inspires you?

Ok so, bear with me here. This is a very hard question to answer because I love a lot of books. However I have a few I will pinpoint because they had a major impact somehow in my writing.

1. Diana Wynne Jones: her books are everything beautiful and fascinating in the fantasy genre. Her style is whimsical and I love her character crafting. Howl’s moving castle and the series after is and has been one of my favorite books since I was a young teen. Sophie’s sarcastic banter is some of my favorite and often influences my sassier characters. Her other books are equally as wonderful, touching on many different subjects of magic and fantasy.

2. David Gaider: The man behind many of the Dragon age novels and many of the characters personal arcs in the games. My favorite novel of his is Asunder. It has some overall darker themes, and touches on demons/ spirits in the magical realm. I enjoy his writing very much and I honestly wonder if the franchise will suffer losing him as a main writer for their next game.

3. Agatha Christie: I love mysteries and the woman created two of the most well known detectives in the written word. Sure maybe it’s cliche to default to her, but the woman. Wrote. So. Much. Anyways, her novel And Then There Were None is excellent.

@battlehigh Honestly I could keep listing authors all day (you’re lucky most of my books are packed in boxes from moving or I would! Unfortunately I’m also forgetful when it comes to names of books and authors) but these three are definitely influential of my RP writing. Thanks for sending me the ask! 🥰

📝  - It takes Rham'ir quite a while after meeting Thyra to realize he recognized her from the fields of Carteneau. Whether it the myriad glances during the intense combat, the quick transfer of aether to heal her wounds in brief seconds-long contacts, or the blinded silhouette of her across the destroyed field, muffled by the dust fog that made Carteneau feel like a completely different planet. He realizes and remembers. But he's hard-pressed to bring it up--the battle at Carteneau holds no good memories for anyone, such that perhaps had they suffered the loss of memory of the entire fight, they would be happier souls.

Within this, a new silent camaraderie forms, a strengthening graft over the patchwork bond already formed as adventurers and companions both, and he instinctively knows to keep her close. But there's more than that, he knows. And as terrible as it might sound, she fills in the hole in his heart left by the untimely death of H'nhamu. There's a deep, unshakeable love beneath the surface. One might look at the two and think soldiers-in-arms, held fast by their shared experiences.
