ive been havin a bad sensory week my classes just started this week n i feel really self conscious about stimming in class bc i was yelled @ when younger idk wht else to do to prevent me from ptsd sensory sm full on melt down in class any advice?
Prepare to be as comfortable as possible in the areas you can control so you can save your coping for where you can’t. Wear an outfit that wont irritate you and has items you can remove or add for the right temperature. It may help to have a ‘protective’ covering item like a baggy hoodie.
Go in early to try to get the seat that feels best. If possible, you can email your professor/teacher ahead of time to let them know you need to bring a stim toy, or any other accommodations. You could also offer to discuss this and the reasons with them, if you like. If you are in an accepting learning environment, it should only get easier with time as you adjust to being allowed to stim in class. Good luck! -Mod Nova
