He had lost times how he had managed to scrunch down behind it laterally. So, it would be far easier to sit upon it. Steve gave a wry smile as he looked over at Bucky. "Hypothetically speaking of course. There's most certainly not a data point of that being attempted, by me, or anyone else - ever. Nope." Steve started to whistle as he plucked his hands free communication device and tossed it onto the table. Oh no, it's gone misplaced again, how tragic. "And there's most definitely not a great hill just a couple of miles from here."

"Come on.... Let's just have a laugh." Bucky tried, nudging Steve's shoulder a bit. Sure it would probably not be great for his back but that was a worry for later. "How sad that we just.... Happens to go on a walk to said hill." He chuckled. He just wanted to have some fun.

when did it start?

fingers touch the sides of a sweaty glass. half drank amber liquid, no ice, smells of whiskey barrels and spice. the accent of it is written on his breath as he huffs a puff of laughter that doesn't quite make a sound. reaches his eyes, though. they sparkle in the dim lighting of a random, rundown bar he's made his home in. figures that he'd be found here. right? all someone has to do is find the place with the cheapest beer and the best/cheapest stash of liquor? you'll see dean winchester there. sorta like closing a bathroom door and saying bloody mary into a mirror three times. only less murder. mostly.

flicking a glance over steve's eyes--the smile fades into a sardonic, tired smirk. "when most kids started losing baby teeth," shoulders encased in a too big worn leather coat hitch, "those were the life lessons i was blasting towards. mach ten. no brakes in sight. you? when did your life lesson on the rocky road to almost jaded kick off?" takes one to know one.

Both kinds of lights were sitting in the large container at her feet as she eyed them. She'd gotten both, not knowing what Steve'd prefer but wanting to make sure he had something festive for the holidays.

hiking through the woods to a small secluded cabin wouldn't always be alice's first priority or even something she'd willingly sign up for. growing up in the city she always found the woods and anywhere super far from civilization creepy. there just wasn't enough noise. still, she was trained to be able to handle herself out here and she did it. even if every time the leaves rustled or a stick cracked alice was watching her back. she wished it was calming for her like it was for other people but it just wasn't.

when she reached the door, she knocked on it four times in a set pattern and waited. the backpack on her shoulders had started to feel like lead and she was very ready to get it off. inside were some newspapers from home, some cds and food she'd picked up in the nearest town. she'd also added some american snacks and an old ds and games she'd picked up at a pawn shop. bringing steve supplies while she was off work wasn't what she'd consider fun, but he'd helped her so she helped him in return. "it's alice, i've got the stuff you wanted! i got bit by like 47 mosquitos hiking up here so i'd really like to come inside before i become one giant, ugly bug bite," she called through the door impatiently.

"I know you ain't," Bucky said, her expression softening a little. "And you bein' here helps, Steve. I trust you. And I owe you. You broke through all my brainwashing, that day in DC. I never would've gotten myself free of HYDRA without you."

She probably should have gone to Steve much sooner than she had, but she'd had work to do, and more than that, she'd been scared – scared that he would want something from her that she wouldn't be able to give. Scared that it would hurt him to see her the way she'd been back then, still more Winter Soldier than Bucky Barnes. She'd hurt Steve too much already, when she'd fought him on the helicarrier. She hadn't wanted to cause him more pain. So she'd waited to seek him out until she'd managed to put more of herself back together.

"It's just-- it's stupid," she continued. "It's so fuckin' stupid. 'Cause you'd think that after all the fuckin' bullshit I've gone through, that I wouldn't still be havin' nightmares about the war. You'd think that after seventy-somethin' years and everythin' Karpov and then HYDRA did to me, there wouldn't be room left for the war. But I keep on havin' nights where I go to bed and wind up right back in 1944."

        bee, as any big sister would, looks like she’s keeping the biggest secret in the world when asked about connor, shaking her head with an almost equal amount of giggling. her brother had decided to be a spiderman ghost today, wearing the sheet from his own bed to trot around behind their pa.

     “ maybe he went with da for snacks! ” she suggests brightly, knowing he’d be home from shopping soon. in time for lunch da had promised, and with lots of tiny oranges for her and connor. “ or maybe he’s coloring in my room. you can come look wif me if you wanna. ”
