Went to the Water Lantern Festival at National Harbor this evening. Played with aperture and shutter speeds. These photos are “raw” out of the camera - so excited to do some post-processing tomorrow to see what sorts of details I can coax out with a little bit of “tweaking!”

Downton Research Project...
It’s that time of year when we all get a little reflective, maybe we’ve heard from friends we’ve not been in touch with for a long time. I had an old college friend that recently contacted me on FB and that got me to thinking about what some of those old school friends might be up to these days….and that got the wheels of my tiny little bat-brain grinding away….
Riddle me this Bat-Peeps…
If the characters from Downton Abbey were going to a modern year-2000-teens American high school, what do you think any of them would be voted for as “Most likely to…” when they graduated from school??
Some are sort of “gimmees” like Most Likely to become a Doctor – Richard Clarkson…Most Likely to become a World Famous Chef – Beryl Patmore. Some characters require a bit more thought and I was wondering what some of you might come up with.
I’m gathering the information to use in a future project so I would be most grateful if you could give it some serious thought and then either create a post and tag it with “#downton high school”, send me a direct message, leave a note in my Askbox (Anon or not), or send me an e-mail if you have my address.
You can send me your thoughts on ANY, and as many of, the characters as you like – above or below stairs – or even the peripheral characters. Such as what would a man who goes by “Dickie” or “Shrimpy” to his school friends be voted most likely to?? Or even the Villians!! Oooh!! Susan MacLaren, Vera Bates, Mr. Green, Charlie Grigg!!! Every high school has the students we all love to whisper about!! LOL!!
Again, this would be a modern high school universe but you may use any references for your “Most likely votes” – but please, if you use any references outside of canon, include that frame of reference. For example, if you are using characterizations from a fanfic, please include the name of the fanfic or the universe. If you are using references from the actors, please reference/describe the interview/comments. If you are using modern versions of canon characters, etc…
I’ve quite a full plate the next couple of weeks so the project won’t be completed until the end of the month. I’ll leave my inbox open to your ideas for the next two weeks and will probably send out a couple of reminders that I’m gathering information – my apologies up front for seeming like begging but I’d really like to create something that reflects the thoughts of the fandom and your participation will be instrumental!! “Unforgotten” Series 2
Anyone else out there watching this program??
One of the leads is Nicola Walker (Gillian Buttershaw, Last Tango in Halifax) with Peter Egan (Shrimpy MacLaren, Downton Abbey) as her father. There’s also a young woman who seems to be a minor character, at least through Episode 3. She’s played by Briony Hannah (Sister Mary Cynthia, Call the Midwife).
Anyway, just wondering if there was anyone else to discuss the episodes with. Series one was an excellent murder mystery and I tell you, there were parts of the story being revealed, right down to the very closing moment.
I have always loved the fact that you've written Carson/Hughes in the canon time period. Though you've explored AUs with them and given them family and friends together, I do like an Edwardian Carson!! LOL!! I think my favorite story of yours is "A Broken Bed." Written early in the timeline when there was little backstory and a wide open field to play in. And that's exactly how I think of that story - playful, teasing, and fun! Thank you for sharing your wonderful writing talents with us!!
Thank you for the compliment. That was definitely one of the earliest stories I wrote for Charles and Elsie. It was a fun little piece to write, especially since we had so little information or back story for them. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
