California Pottery

Southern California pottery companies stayed in business during The Great Depression by making cheerful multi colored sets of dishes, flower pots and decorative tile. The designs were strongly influenced by the Art Deco aesthetic with colors inspired by the natural beauty of California. Long after the Depression was over these dishes found longevity in beach houses and summer homes across the country. This collection of Bauer Pottery was started by my Grandmother and I have many fond memories of Sunday dinners at her house.

Contentment

I look forward to this sandwich all year. It’s the day after Thanksgiving. All the dishes have been washed and put away. The house is quiet. Time to enjoy a turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sandwich on a dinner roll.

A Sunny Breakfast Table Setting

Is there a better way to start the day than sitting at a beautifully set table with the sun streaming in through the window? I’m enjoying a fresh glass of orange juice and enjoying the smell of Eggs Benedict and hash browns that fills the kitchen. The sterling silver flatware is Repousse. The blue and white dishes are “Medway” décor, Alfred Meakin, England. The orange bowl is Bauer Ringware.  The blue and white pitcher holding flowers is Idris by W.H. Grindley
