Now weaker and more disoriented, Alice nodded slowly as she shakily grabbed their hand, heavily leaning against them. It was as if her legs had given up in trying to support her body. She was too tired to even try to stay conscious as she felt her limbs start to tingle.
Alice felt really bad for having Midnight pretty much carry her dead weight (not to mention she also felt guilty about asking for their help in the first place when they were probably already busy doing something else), but it was completely out of her control at this point. Anything that happened afterwards was a blur to her, the scenery tilting dangerously and black spots dancing in her vision.
“M’sorry,” she murmured, her voice cracking. Her mouth and throat were extremely dry and the inside of her nose was burning. “I didn’t mean to ruin your day.”
It was so quiet that she wasn’t sure if they even heard her, but she prayed that they did before she finally keeled over.
All became dark as her surroundings disappeared.
