Debut of Carmencita and Stevens. The first day of graduation was an evening of presentations, a piñata and the debut of our dear Carmen, the dean’s secretary. She and choral director Yariel Olivera sang “"Caminando por Tegucigalpa" / Walking Around Tegucigalpa. Then there was the debut of Stevens who played the seasonal tune, “Belen” / Bethlehem. Steven goes to the Guanacaste church with his grandfather, Eliades. After graduating on Friday, these mothers of children in the nutrition program were gifted with sewing machines. They completed 12 months of sewing classes. The women sewed these skirts and blouses for graduation. These are treadle sewing machines which they prefer. You Are Invited! Baxter’s festive graduation runs December 5-8. The event begins on Friday with the graduation of 50+ mothers of malnourished children who completed the 12-month sewing or beautician school. Saturday 11 graduate with their four-year bachelor’s degree; 45 graduate in the fifth year studies program; 4 receive a diploma in Christian Training; and 100 will receive their diploma in the Biblical Studies Extension Course (CELO). Then 1000+ will gather for an area wide church service in which we wish the graduates Godspeed. Over 50 will travel from the U.S. and hundreds will come from Latin America.
