ok so bb:ws #11-
when i read the first issue and immediately changed my blog url in tribute i had no idea that it was going to become The Most Hated Bucky Barnes Comic Ever, at least in my corner of the fandom. haha whoops.
in all seriousness though, despite its flaws, i really enjoyed this comic and am sad to see it end. i am very much a multi-shipper, so i wasn’t so put off by the alien romance and i enjoyed the hell out of the space antics. i’m not going to comment too much on the final issue because i thought that by itself it wasn’t anything special, although it was a fitting end to the series. instead i’d like to add a little positivity to the discussion with a brief list of wonderful things about this comic.
wonderful things about bucky barnes: the winter soldier
art is wow
a great sense of humor. sure, things get a bit heavy and philosophical but it never take itself too seriously.
daisy johnson (i mean, come on)
space!
really fascinating page layouts. this comic made me think more about how comics are constructed than anything i’ve read in a long time.
bucky barnes assembles model space ships in his spare time. he has hobbies.
the great debates it spawned. my favorite being can or cannot old!bucky transform into a pterosaur?
i might be biased here but bucky steals a lil alien critter because it looks lonely and then he hides it under his shirt and sneaks it food.
so there’s your bucky barnes: the winter soldier positivity post from someone with a bucky barnes: the winter soldier url. a url which i still treasure and plan on keeping regardless of how many people hated this comic.
