i think i ghost wrote this. like brian wilson r u sure i wasn’t living in ur brain when u wrote this one ???? something about always trying to do things, be things, know people but nothing ever sticking … and ‘where can i turn when my fair weather friends cop out’ - what am i gunna do when my ride or die just doesn’t get it anymore? and he captures it perfectly in ‘i guess i just wasn’t made for these times’… the passive/defeated ‘i guess’ … the suggestion that that’s the only explanation bc there’s nothing wrong with me, there’s nothing wrong with the world, but i feel i don’t fit this one… BRIAN u understand my existentialism perfectly xxxx

i think if you want to understand my music taste this is the pinnacle of it!! it’s beautiful - dark and intense and flowing and a little ethereal. and the layering and building are SO good, especially into the bridge, nd i just think building an atmosphere and containing it in a song is just the most insane thing ever. only kate could make a song this perfect for me. i could pick this song apart like a little mad scientist x

i’ll always associate this with home. i remember being a little kid nd my grandad telling me this song was inspired by the river mersey, but davies changed it to waterloo because it fit the melody better. i always think of this song when i go to the docks. liverpool sunset’s fine <33
