"Came Back Like A Slow Voice" is amazing!! Loved it so much! the plot twist was masterful, I had to backtrack and re-read it from the top to see all of the clues you had dropped... I really want to hear about their happy ending but it looks like that’s not really your style?

Just call me tf out why don’t you :’) I’m afraid it’s not, I’m very into ambiguity, and tbh I haven’t given much thought about how that happy ending would go.

I like to think that a couple years down the line, Sid nearly hits Geno with his car again. At first he’s pissed because some dumbass just stepped out into the road (who even does that??) and then when he realises who it is, he gets even angrier. He’s spent the last few years piecing his heart back together, and now Geno’s just here?? And he’s smiling???? And yeah, Sid’s going to kiss him but that’s just because he’s caught up in the moment (and maybe slightly in shock) and then he’s mad because Geno still tastes the same, and he sighs the same way when Sid finally pulls back and it’s as if those years were all for nothing because nothing has changed. Sid is still so in love with him, and obviously Geno still wants him, but he’s so fucking mad he can barely see straight.

So he leaves Geno at the side of the road before he does something stupid like punch him or kiss him again. He makes him find his own way back to town, while he goes and cries on Flowers couch because holy shit what the fuck. But eventually he calms down and he realises after the initial shock he is…kind of okay about all this?

Obviously they can’t just pick up where they left off. Sid has so many questions but Geno is happy to answer them all. They need to build up that trust again, and it’s like when they first started dating, complete with anxious butterflies and sweaty palms. Sid finds himself being wooed hard, like the full dinner and flowers kind of treatment, and eventually they just…fall back into orbit with each other. Old routines are reworked into their lives, plus a few new ones now that Sid is coaching peewee hockey along with writing his articles. What they have is really good, and Sid decides whatever comes at them next, he’s going to fight for it. He wants to keep this so badly.

As for Geno - he found his family. Not in the dusty black of space like he thought, but on a shinging blue and green marble, in the arms of a man who loved him so much that he eventually burnt all of Geno’s acid wash jeans in an attempt to save him from himself. And yeah, sometimes the high levels of oxygen in the atmosphere made it hard to breath, and sometimes he caught himself staring too long at the sun so that he got those bright green little streaks across his retinas. But it was all so worth it.

black coffee and grapefruit

since he has a king size bed to himself now, he sleeps spread out on his back.

What music they enjoy:

mostly swing and jazz. his dad was into it and lestrade inherited his records when he died. he grew up on frank sinatra and just sort of continued it. when he's in the mood, he also listens to dumb 80s music.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:

like twenty minutes. he takes really short showers (about 7 minutes) and shaves and can dress in a hurry (since sometimes he doesn't get the chance to shower and shave, like when he's needed urgently somewhere -- he can get dressed in about a minute)

Their favorite thing to collect:

Religion (if any):

was casually christian. he used to take the kids to church on sunday, and then it was on easter and christmas, and then he got divorced and started questioning.

Favorite sport:

rugby! he played in school and still plays with some of his friends during the summer (even though he's not quite as good anymore)

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc):

he doesn't travel, and given that he lives in london, he finds tourists annoying and wouldn't do touristy things if he traveled, anyway (though he and his exwife did attend a luau when they went to hawaii for their honeymoon)

Favorite kind of weather:

hot and sunny! he has a little garden behind his house and likes to sit there in the sun or take his kids out for walks and you can really only do that when it's hot and sunny

A weird/obscure fear they have:

not necessarily weird or obscure but he's terrified of someone breaking into his house because he's seen what can happen

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail:

he's amazing at claw machines which comes in handy because he can win his daughter a shitty stuffed animal without playing 15 times
