She couldn’t do this. She had roles. She had a job; one that would be steady. One that would require her to travel and go to Canada and shoot a pilot. One that would have her going back, potentially doing a full season -- it was practically guaranteed. There was no tragedy that would appear that stopped it from happening, not like the last show. Sally knew that she could do this. Knew that this would be her shot and she had to take it. She had to do something with her life, had to make sure that all of this was worth it--
Then she’d thrown up in the morning two days in a row and it had dawned on her. Eight days missed. She was usually fine at keeping track. Usually didn’t even need to keep track-- but Barry. Barry. Shaky hands had bought a pregnancy test. Two. Three. All of them the same, no matter how many hours inbetween them. All the same. She’d texted him, furious, upset. Terrified. Hadn’t let him speak because she wanted to throw up again, had when she’d stumbled through the doors of her apartment. Had and it was a realisation that this was all real. She didn’t want Barry to see her. Didn’t want to see him. Wanted to wallow in self-pity and know that she had a choice to make.
He’d turned up, only an hour later. When Sally’s plastered make up on her face and tried to look like she hadn’t been crying all morning, all afternoon. Eyes still a bit red. Nose still a bit pink. She wanted to throw up again as she answers the door and he’s standing there. “Barry--” She’s trying to be polite. Trying not to make it obvious to her agents that the guy who knocked her up was standing outside. They were almost done -- well, it was only Lindsay and her assistant, but still. t was enough. She was meant to be making a good impression. She needed to learn her role. “This-- this really isn’t a good time.”

THE MAN RUNS! Not as fast as him though. he didn’t have much on his side only youth and stupidity. the drive to just not QUIT. he wanted that prize. he’d been going more mad here family keeping him cooped up like an animal. it was his own fridge, but he’d finally escaped. decided to just WALK investigate around. he might not have long before his uncle and aunt panic and call the police. he HATES it here he just wants fun. knife in his hand and stabbing at a dead bird he’d found. he watches as maggots ooze out and then he thinks he’s been caught. by someone in a mask that’s when he chases. easy peasy. his hand releases the blade without his control, there’s a slight burn inking up in his arm but he doesn’t seem to flinch from it. eyes turn up but he can’t see much as his hair falls in his eyes. god damn it.
but now now he can’t stop giggling. this was fun. this was the fun he was looking for. “ yer the one who ran.” thought you would SNITCH, but patrick isn’t going to tell him THAT. he just is still, too still and bothered by the predicament he’s gotten himself into. “ i was just having fun.”

Green eyes darted over to the man positioned only a couple of yards away from where she was slumped against the gas station wall. Lighting the cigarette between her acrylic nails, Vera brought it up to her lips for a long drag before exhaling respectfully in the opposite direction of where he was. The corner of her lips curled up until a smirk was on her wine-colored lips once she saw him look her way, make eye contact with her, and then look away. ❝Why’d you look away like that? I don’t bite. Unless you want me to. ❞

That is a strange thing to say. Even in this town, but he’s never been to Arizona. “We’re in Michigan.” For a private investigator who’s actually good at his job Nate takes an absurd amount of time to realize his response is the actual strange statement. “And I don’t like it when anyone is dead anywhere.”
