- how does it feel to put out a book? Especially one that’s very personal to you (I mean all books are personal to the authors, but you know)

- do you have a favorite moment from the book? Like, a favorite scene or favorite piece of dialogue

- this one isn’t necessarily related to the book so you don’t have to answer it, but it feels tangentially related so I’ll put it here: which camp moonmirror character was the first to come out as queer to other campers? What would their experience have been like?

HELLO, THIS IS CLOUD - the episode is already up (it went up yesterday!! Actually!!) but I want to answer these questions so I’m going to snatch our tumblr to do that right now lol.

How does it feel to put out a book?

Surreal. After dreaming about it for so long, it feels magical. Especially since Riot and Viper are characters I’ve had since high school. Young me would be so proud.

Do you have a favorite scene/piece of dialogue from the book?

SPOILERS —> Every time Viper told Riot about the realities of assimilation. You can not and will not ever be palatable to a straight person, don’t build your life around the idea of doing so. “You’re a faggot, Riot. Get over it.”

Which Camp Moonmirror character was the first to come out as queer?

We have an episode planned for season three addressing this actually! I don’t want to spoil it - but the person they first came out to was very accepting, and it’s a wonderful full-circle moment that I’m excited for you to see :3

This moment in EP3, after Pat forces Pran to break his silent treatment by telling him he deleted the video of his friends bullying Wai at the bar. It's everything to me. It's a major, pivotal moment that changes the trajectory of their relationship. It happens entirely on Pat's face.

Pran, very seriously, tells Pat to stay away from him. The music is serious. His words are serious. His expression is serious. Pat's reaction is serious. Their relationship thus far is warming up, but it's still tenuous and volatile, as evidenced by this scene.

Then, as Pran walks away, we have Pat's subsequent face journey. His initial reaction seems to be: "Well shit, he really told me to get off his case, and he might have meant it." And in a matter of seconds, in a choice conveyed completely by his face, Pat decides: "No. I'm actually going to be in your life for the rest of it!" The music shifts to lighthearted. There's no reality in which they can stay away.

I swear, this face journey marks a change in his behavior toward Pran. Pran essentially telling him to fuck off did him in. It made things that were complex before suddenly very clear to Pat. All of the tension between them was instantly boiled down to its bare bones: He could either leave Pran alone, or not leave him alone.

We see how easy and obvious and, most importantly, how JOYFUL this decision was for him. He made it in about .5 seconds. No-brainer of all no-brainers. And now everything has changed. (Cue the devilish grin, cue Pat ignoring Pran and proceeding to tease him/help him in the library, cue the pre-feelings flirtation era, cue everything that makes Pran say to him in EP5: "You can't keep doing this to me.")

Standards you will never reach, what a shame to not be good enough to just do the thing you were destined to do

How awful to be the one to draw the blade, to close the curtain especially when your nothing but an item in their eyes.
