I’m sorry guys, I had to. This is my first gifset ever and I’m gonna be late to school but I couldn’t get this out of my head. Okay, now be honest guys, this scene totally reminded you of Percabeth falling into Tartarus okay? I know there’s already too much angst but imagine what if Marco and Star didn’t make it? What if they got pulled into the portal? Imagine the amount of angst :3?

Woah, Guys, Calm Down.

Remember, this is the same dorky cinnamon roll who: 

 - actually accepted Star into his home

  - fought every monster battle with her 

 - hugged Star a bajillion times

 - made nachos for her

 - actually wants to show her the world

 - actually danced with her

 - protects her (from everyday objects to serious injuries) 

 - helps her learn new things

 - helps her with her insecurities

 - cheers her up when she’s down

 - tags along with most of her adventures

 - talked her ex out of pursuing her

 - tried to help her with mewberty 

- stayed all night at a police station to make sure the cops would find her

-  legitimately cares for her and wants her to be safe

Please don’t demonize this child just because he’s finally dating the girl he’s had a crush on since BEFORE he met Star. Let him be happy. He’s a good friend after all.

The Nature of the Blood Moon Bond (as seen in Bon Bon The Birthday Clown)

(first of all, it’s not yet clear whether Marco’s hallucination came from an outside force such as Fate or Destiny or the Power Of The Blood Moon, or if it came from his soul, now privileged with quasi-prophetic instincts where Star is concerned -- but for the sake of brevity i’m going to speak as if the hallucination can be attributed to the blood moon itself)

ok, so

I know this blood moon hallucination was REALLY TIMELY and a lot of people are suspecting it’s because it “disapproves” of Marco and Jackie kissing -- but I’d prefer to imagine it’s trying to let Marco know that Star is in a bad place emotionally and needs his support. or even that she will soon be in danger.

bc the blood moon bond is all about Destiny and Preordained Paths. up until that point, Star had only just begun to dabble in harmful magic with the All-Seeing Eye spell -- but could the blood moon have known that Star’s life would have been in danger, and that she might not have survived that encounter without Marco?

(or that she might have made a choice she regretted, like sucking Ludo into that vortex bc of the troubled place her mind was at?)

like, this is the last thing we see before it cuts away to Marco and Jackie

she’s in danger, and she needs Marco’s help to face the threat Ludo presents. (while Janna holds her own for a while, it seems like she is not as accustomed to facing these sorts of threats as Marco is and ultimately bails -- she’ll need to get stronger or start carrying a stronger weapon if she wants to hang)

in conclusion Star and Marco are soul-bonded, but while I think this can be represented by a romantic relationship, I don’t think it necessarily has to be.

I don’t have a preference wrt Jarco or Starco (and tbh I prefer the polys, but i’m not sure how likely that is to happen in the show), so this post isn’t trying to push one or the other.

what I do think is interesting is that Marco couldn’t save Star on his own.

he needed Jackie and Janna, too.

so I’m hoping the show is moving toward a message of the importance of platonic bonds, and how they’re not less important or meaningful than romantic ones.

(and i do think the vortex, which is literally a product of star’s negative emotions, could REPRESENT her negative feelings of jealousy, and how she’ll need not only marco but jackie and janna to help her overcome them)

(and ofc in my heart of hearts I’m hoping for polys)
