Voting suspended as BBUK’s George is ejected following alleged antisemitic comments
A Big Brother spokesperson said: “Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, George has been removed from the Big Brother House with immediate effect and will no longer participate in the programme.”
The rest of ITV's statement reads: “George will appear in tonight’s episode of Big Brother, but his comments will not be aired as they are contrary to broadcast standards.
“George was previously given several warnings for unacceptable language. Most were not broadcast as the language used was contrary to broadcast standards, but one was seen during Monday’s episode of Big Brother. Before entering the Big Brother House, the rules regarding language and behaviour are explained to all Housemates and they receive training in respect, dignity, and inclusion.
“Friday’s eviction will continue as planned – details of which will be explained during tonight’s episode of Big Brother: Late & Live.”
Update #1
Information about the eviction voting is already emerging. A statement on the “itv.com/vote” website reads, “George has left the House, so the vote has been closed. Previous votes won’t count, but a new vote will open on Thursday [9th October] and you will get five more votes.”
Update #2
The Sun claims George’s removal was due to a “horrifying” antisemitic remark, although ITV has declined to comment on the specific nature of his comments. Since leaving the House, George has allegedly described himself as “a flag bearer of freedom of speech”, adding, “infamy, infamy, they’ve all got it in for me.”
