Harry Potter headcannon
so we all know that really dramatic scene in the first book/movie with the whole Harry not being able to catch a single letter from the air or ground even though he’s like, snitch catcher of the century and all that, right?
Ya’know, this one
like, it doesn’t make sense that Harry couldn’t catch a single letter or pick one up and yet he can be the fastest snitch catcher like ever and stuff.
However, I would like something to be considered, in adhd/add it’s famously known that it can be hard to focus, but the reason that’s not always the case. It’s that you’re juggling more than one focus. So if Harry had so many different objectives (letters) to be focusing on then he wouldn’t have been able to grab just one. But when he places his focus on only one object and put the force of his concentration on it (the snitch) it becomes much easier to reach.
it could also explain why he tends to make quick choices and not notice things since the story is from his point of view. Like deciding to just follow all that stuff with tom riddle and the (almost) murders in second year, and how he probably missed a lot of the relationships (literally any of the lgbt relationships in hp).
it could also be why the eating thing wasn’t made as big of a deal in hp. I mean, it would be hard to ignore the fact that Harry grew up in the Dursley house with hardly any food given to him (maybe I’m exaggerating) and if not he brought up in the hp series, but if it’s in Harry’s pov and adhd kids often don’t remember to eat during the day if food isn’t in sight/mind (even more so with meds) so that could be why he never thought of it and why he tended to be scrawny? Though that could just be genes.
there’s probably other stuff too but yeah. Add/adhd Harry. What a goofy little boy
