New Age Pet Friendly Hotels
Article by Rashi Patra on New Age Pet-Friendly Hotels.
Throughout history pets have proved best friends of humans. Most people consider their pets to be members of their family. They never want to be away from their pets. Even when they are on holiday… this has given rise to a new concept of Pet Friendly Hotels, it surely is gaining a lot of popularity. Keeping in mind the essence of the concept we shall look into the pros & cons of the same. This is definitely an excellent thing for the pet parents but not too sure how guests who are travelling without pets accepting this change.
Looking from the view point of pet parents finally they can take their pets on trips with them & not worry or look for options to leave them behind. Which I am sure does give them a sense of safety & security now that the pet is with them throughout. Rooms are designed keeping in mind the needs of the pets with an outer space where the pet can play & relax instead of being in doors all the time. The floor in the rooms is not carpeted instead made of wood (easier to clean later). The rooms are spacious so that the pet & parents are both comfortable in the space. But many hotels are going the extra mile to make sure their furriest travelers are comfortable. Pet-friendly amenities offered at hotels include food dishes, water bowls, outdoor play areas, and dog runs. Yes parents do have to pay extra cost for their pets ranging anywhere from 3000 to 5000 rupees (also depends on the duration of stay & the individual hotels). This includes all the meals for the pets & the extra cleaning cost & revenue for the Hotel as the Hotel generally will not be able to sell the rooms for 48 hours to another guest after checkout of pet parents.
Having your hotel recognized as a good place for pets will inspire pet owners to share their experience with friends, family, and online review sites. After all, pets are family, and we want them to have the very best money can buy. Another benefit for hoteliers offering accommodations that welcome pets is that it inspires brand loyalty.
Now let’s also know that being a pet friendly hotel is not risk free.Starting from, but not limited to, cleanliness. Also pets are likely to pose some health-related problems in the rooms and common spaces. Some guests could also suffer from allergies due to pets which could cause loss of business. Therefore, one would have to communicate to the guests their responsibilities when accompanied by pets, which at times might not be enough. One must also take into account the possibility of pets damaging the rooms’ furniture, floor or textiles.
Moreover, pet-friendly hotels still constitute a minority in the accommodation industry. Therefore, guests generallyhave to pay higher than average amounts for hotels that will welcome them and their pets. Pet-friendliness does not only bring more customers but also helps attain a customer profile which boosts profitability. But this also means that the hotel has to keep extra budgets for any unforeseen “incidents” that might take place.
