I found this series called “ Abstract - the are of Design “ on Netflix and thought I add some notes to my blog about it. This series is only 8 episodes and each episode is about a well known designer and their life story.
The series starts with Christoph Niemann who is an illustrator, graphic designer, author and also app designer. He is famous for his New Yourker magazine cover designs. The biography/documentary looks in to his life from a design point of view and I can promise you that there’s much more than meets the eye.
In this biography, Christoph talks about practice, doing more work each and every day. Also he talks about taking a walk outside in the open air, going to the museum to refresh his mind and body for new ideas and inspiration which is exactly we should do in order to produce great work. Near to end of this episode Christoph mentioned a book called “ The Invention of Slowness “ where the author see the world on a slow perception.
Imagine if we can actually train our self to see the world on a slow perception, just imagine the things we could see and discover, the inspiration, the beauty of this super fast moving world.
I was born in early 80′s and by birth I am not a digital native. But I kept my connections alive and became a technology specialist which now I am feeling not what I want to be or become. Let’s face it, it is boring, doing the same things again and again, following the same set of rules everyday... not my kind of life. But Creative Technologies, designing, doing something new always makes me want to do more. I know that this is not a job, 9 to 5 work but a life style to see the unseen and to do the impossible. Above all that’s what I love about it.
