【World Design Capital Taipei 2016 Designers in Residence Taipei Lecture &Workshop 】
/
BCXSY is Amsterdam based interdisciplinary design studio. Since its establishment - almost 10 years ago, they have been collaborating with a wide variety of partners - from individual artisans or NGOs to different brands, platforms and producers.
What makes their work unique is the role of an observer which we often play as designers; being an outsider/stranger makes it easier for us to analyze the subjects and environments we encounter and form a point of view which is often very different than the common, local one. Collecting and reflecting on our impressions and experiences allow us to create an alternative, personal image, often emphasizing less know/obvious elements.
In our workshop for DIR Taipei we would like to question the nature of souvenirs. The participants would look for personal elements which interest them and could represent Taipei to foreigners who discover it for the first time. Those would be translated into new concepts, offering a more relevant and authentic alternative to the typical objects which are common.
