wait jw why does it upset u when someone sends the same request
Ok, so I want to be super clear here - especially with yandere stuff there is always going to be a lot of crossover in the types of requests that get sent.
I’m not talking about general requests like ‘kirishima with a reader who escapes’ because it’s a common trope, an open concept and even if the same person sends it to multiple writers you wouldn’t be able to know (if they’re anon) and it’s more than likely that all of the writers could produce something entirely different and make it their own.
Common requests like that are going to happen and they’re not an issue at all.
What I’m talking about is more specific requests like ‘Bokuto has a crush on Kuroo’s younger sister who just happens to be Nekoma’s manager and he decides to make his move at training camp’ or something like that where it’s a specific scenario as opposed to a generalised concept. Especially when the concept is word for word exactly the same.
I have two issues with it.
First - plagiarism is a real issue. I don’t want to be accused of copying another writer’s ideas or their style or anything like that, even if it’s entirely unintentional, and that gets harder when the prompts given are more specific. I know there were issues with two writing blogs I followed about a concept where the reader was blindfolded, passed around to a group of guys and had to guess who was fucking them by the way they touched them alone. One was a yandere writer, the other wasn’t, both fics were very different (and the second writer I believe had no knowledge of the first fic nor an intent to copy it) but writing is a personal thing and people got understandably upset and it was messy. So I don’t want any part of that.
Secondly - I write for free. Outside of the occasional tips given on my Kofi, I don’t get paid for any of this. So when somebody comes into my inbox and requests something from me, I’m under the impression that you’re coming to me because you like my fics, my style - whatever. It’s like a compliment, in a way. You’re entrusting your ideas to me to see what I’ll do with them and I’ll take the time (a whole lot of fucking time actually) to create something I hope you’ll love.
But if you’re sending it to everybody, then it cheapens it. Maybe it’s petty or self centred, but suddenly it’s not about the actual writing anymore - it’s about churning out content because it’s not about who writes it as long as somebody does, right? I have a lot of amazing requests sent in - more than I can probably ever answer, so why should I waste my time thinking about a plot and writing out a fic around your concept when you’re essentially just shopping it around? It makes it feel competitive and cheap and I just really don’t like it.
I feel like I haven’t explained it very well but that’s my feelings on the matter. I have no issue with requesting concepts from different writers - by all means go right ahead, but sending the exact same request to three of four writers isn’t something most writers appreciate.
Claiming 'trauma' doesn't excuse you from writing and posting severely fucked up fics about teenagers raping people and certainly not posting it. Keep that shit to yourself and delete your blog.
I literally don’t give a fuck if the blogs I follow don’t answer my asks. I always feel concerned for the wellbeing of the writers that give us content bc they aren’t obligated to. Life doesn’t always revolve around the internet and I really hope that you’re doing well and don’t let the entitlement of some people ruin your experience here 💕
Thank you, bby 🥺 don’t get me wrong, I love writing for you guys and answering requests and thirsts and even just talking with y’all, but I do have a life (and a full time job) outside of this which means I can’t spend all day every day pumping out content ☹️
It hust really bugs me when people think they’re entitled to my time and my writing and then go into my asks acting rude and uppity because I haven’t answered them quick enough or whatever. Sometimes tumblr eats stuff, sometimes I’m trying to finish another fic, sometimes the request just doesn’t vibe with me. I was hesitant to start writing requests for this exact reason and now I’m just... idk.
