GREEN UNPLUGGED : getting her face painted w. @bejinyoung
look, was she probably too old for face paint? definitely. but she was running out of things to do at this festival while she waited for nana, her beloved, to take stage with her back up singer, june or whatever that dude’s name was. simply, she was here for the women, despite most of the line up being men (derogatory). and too perform, but she’d already taken to the open mic stage. plus, the line for face painting had been non-existent when she had come across the stand so why not? secretly she really just wanted a butterfly on her face because it looked sick.
but, of course, miyeon was not afforded a quiet minute alone to get her face painted with a blue butterfly, as her very own dance instructor appeared, out of nowhere, looking a lot more chipper than he usually did in class. she went to run, her instinct being to escape a possible scolding, but was stuck in the chair as the artist continue to work. “hello sir” she said politely to jinyoung as he approached her. why did it feel like the painter suddenly started working slower as soon as he showed up?

𝖙𝖑𝖉𝖗 / SARANG AND KANG YUN SQUEEZE IN SOME
LAST MINUTE PRACTICE BEFORE OPEN MIC STARTS !!
sarang’s been chugging water all day and it barely occurs to him now that, while it’s kept him hydrated and his vocal cords are nice and lubricated, he’s likely going to have to make pit stops to the bathroom numerous times before he’s set to take the stage, and that’s not exactly a good thing, especially since the time is ticking and he needs to be prepared to go live dangerously soon. what can he say ?? he’s still new to this, he frankly has no idea what he’s doing, but he’s trying his absolute hardest to be noticeable. while he dressed up in an ensemble that fits him like a glove and is likely to catch the eyes of his onlookers, he realizes that being presentable and handsome will only turn heads slightly. if he can add his sweet voice into the mix ?? that might help those same heads pivot all the way around to catch a glimpse of him and maybe, just maybe, one of them will be a talent scout with a business card in hand.
the idea of it thrills him, but he’s trying not to get his hopes up too high. it’s not like he’s this fantastically groundbreaking vocalist, so tempering his expectations is crucial. he knows that, he tries to remember that, and he also hopes that his bladder is emptied enough as he searches the crowds for yun near their designated meeting spot. the instant his sights catch onto him, he approaches with a cheeky grin tugging at his lips — his index finger extending to tap on the taller’s shoulder impishly.
“ excuse me ?? ” he chirps from behind. “ you’re really pretty !! can i please get your number ?? ” it’s all in jest, of course, as the two of them have been friends for a little while now. once yun turns around, though, sarang can’t help but giggle; beaming at him. “ okay, no, but really — i’m kinda freaking out and you’re a blessing for agreeing to meet up with me !! how’re you feeling ?? better than me, i hope ?? ”
yuji ducks her head with a wide smile, calling out thanks as she takes the drinks in her hands and moves back into the moving people. she manuevers herself with ease, offering apologetic smiles and bows of her head if she gets too close to someone. making her way back to the general area of the open mic, her eyes flicker over everyone looking for daeun's familiar face.
whoever's finishing their performance on main stage is speaking, whatever they're saying yuji can't make out. but she does hear the wilding crowd and response and looks over instinctively, curious. returning her attention forward, she ducks around a couple and continues looking for her friend. eyes lighting up when she sees her, yuji quickens her pace annd slow jogs over, careful not to spill the drinks in her hand. slowing when she's close enough, she holds out one of the drinks towards daeun with a hum.
"for you, superstar." she teases, shaking up the drink idly. "got you something i thought you'd like." lifting her own drink choice to her mouth, she sips at it with a happy hum. tilting her head, she observes daeun quietly for a moment, tapping a finger on the cup of her drink in thought. "how're you feeling? nervous?" she asks, shifting her balance from one foot to the other.
Kakao Corporation is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s GREENPLUGGED MUSIC FESTIVAL!
For two days only, music lovers from all over South Korea gather in Hangang Park to celebrate music and the planet during Seoul’s only eco-friendly music fest. This year’s artist lineup includes indie and established artists from all genres, from heavy metal, to hip hop, to k-pop, and more.
The event runs Saturday and Sunday, July 9th and 10th. While there is no charge for entry to the park and festival, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to support environmental initiatives in the community.
This year the festival welcomes special guests JUDE and NANA as the featured performers on Saturday night. The duo will be performing their latest single, Ganadara, for the first time together in front of a live audience. Of course, they’ll also be performing their greatest hits individually for their fans! This year’s lineup also includes Adoy, heavy-metal sensations Crossfaith, as well as Colde, Loopy, Gumx, Nafla, and more.
In addition to the artists performing on the main stage, various booths will be set up within the park with merchandise sales, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks and traditional Korean street food stands, face painting and temporary tattoos, and more. In the main tent, GREENPLUGGED volunteers will be helping attendees make a donation to the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM). Donations up to ₩500,000,000 will be matched by Kakao Corporation.
There’s also a smaller secondary stage near the main tent that serves as an open mic stage for any attendees who would like to share their talents with an audience! Staff will be monitoring the stage and will be taking sign-ups for short performances by GREENPLUGGED fans all weekend. Out of courtesy to other participants, the open mic performances should be no longer than five minutes long.
Remember, GREENPLUGGED is an event that promotes sustainability and environmental awareness. Attendees are encouraged to pick up any trash or litter that they come across not only in the festival area, but anywhere in Hangang Park or the city of Seoul. Bags of litter or recyclables can be exchanged at the main tent for food and drink tokens. Let’s leave this city a little greener than when we came to it!

"bye!" yuji waves sweetly to the volunteer, tucking her wallet away as she returns her attention to the string of other stalls and setups down the line. there's someone on main stage performing, and out of curiousity, she glances over. adjusting her purse absentmindedly, she stands on her tip toes to see if she can make out who it is. she can't, but the song sounds vaguely familiar enough for her to hum. after a while, she merely shrugs and returns her attention to the stalls, looking over them. yuji's hand falls to her stomach, rubbing it for a moment as she debates whether she should stop by a food stall and grab a snack. in the midst of her thinking, a vendor table catches her eye-- her gait pausing as she catches sight of cute reusable tote bags. it's pretty simply in design, barren of a design outside of a cute cat and save our planet scribbled on there. it's cute, aimed clearly for the younger crowd but yuji can't help but gravitate towards it. she peeks around a browsing customer, before clearing her throat as she steps up next to the other person, a girl that couldn't be much younger than her if not the same age. the smile is already sliding on her face in a friendly manner. "hi, i'm sorry." she greets softly, tilting her head as she gestures to the table. "are you okay if i slip in here and look at this bag? there's so many cute things at this table, wow..."

𝖙𝖑𝖉𝖗 / SARANG SEES JINYOUNG AT THE FESTIVAL;
HIS MIND’S IMMEDIATELY FILLED WITH BAD IDEAS !!
wow... has he always been this gorgeous ??
sarang remembers catching glimpses of jinyoung from afar before, but always felt the urge to turn away since seonghan made it known that he and jinyoung have ‘ issues, ’ but now that his ex is no longer in the picture, sarang can’t help but feel curious. there’s this aching need within him to ruffle some feathers, and whether he knows it or not, that temptation alone has allowed him to get closer and closer to the object of his affections as the day’s gone on. like a phantom in the crowd, the younger of them has kept an eye on his senior passively for the last while, and now that he spots him alone, sarang feels like he’s a moth and jinyoung’s the devastating flame — one whose warmth is acting like a north star to him, even if it comes with the risk of possibly being burned. there’s also the tale of icarus who, out of self-indulgence, flew far too close to the sun, and everyone knows how that story ended. however, these warning signs that continue to present themselves to him mean nothing right now. without pausing to consider options, sarang begins his journey towards him; his walk bold and confident as he approaches. there’s no way in hell he wants to appear timid in front of him, especially when nothing but sin is on his mind.
mere moments later, he’s standing before him, and in typical sarang fashion, he beams a smile; longing to catch his sightline [ and most importantly, his attention ] somehow. “ hey, ” he starts, but when he takes a second to gather his thoughts, he becomes distracted by jinyoung’s features; pausing almost dumbly after one syllable. god, his jawline is so strong; his lips are so luscious; his eyes are magnetic in a way that sarang’s never witnessed before. to be frank, he as danger written all over him, but that’s what makes him all the more enticing. “ whoa, i, uh — i’m sorry... you’re just, like, really handsome. ” could he have chosen his words better ?? sure, but he doesn’t get hung up on the could-be’s because who knows ?? maybe jinyoung’ll find it charming that he became suddenly speechless at the sight of him.
“ anyway !! my name’s sarang. are you enjoying the show ?? ”
quick heads up! everyone who submitted points for the greenplugged festival event should have received a submission in their inbox. please let us know if you did not receive the submit and we’ll re-send it right away.
moon jinyoung performing ko ko bop at greenplugged open mic.
when it comes to performing in the middle of a hot summer’s day, what’s better than simply being even hotter? jinyoung had wanted to do a summery song. to be honest, the first thing he thought of were girl groups. maybe something by starlie, they always had good summer songs. but when someone suggested kokobop, that was absolutely perfect. the boys were all more confident performing something originally choreographed for men anyway (though jinyoung doesn’t think he would’ve had a problem, but it’s not up to him really).
jinyoung would’ve been perfectly fine taking the stage by himself. there’s something more nerve-wracking about performing with a group. sure, they all practiced hard, they’re all very well prepared, but there’s always the chance of something going wrong. the fact that it’s completely out of jinyoung’s control adds to his anxiety. if he’s the one who messes up, misses a step or forgets a part, they’ll be mad at him. honestly, if someone else messes up, he’d be mad at them too. they’ve all worked so hard, everyone wants to do well even if this is just a low-stakes, just for fun sort of thing. it’s not like they’re in a competition.
he takes a deep breath, shakes out his limbs, and takes his place on the stage when their time arrives. looking out to the audience, he can tell no one really cares about them. sure, there’s a couple of people watching casually, but jinyoung understands that they’re far from the main event. bigger, more exciting artists are up on the main stage. normally he’d be frustrated; he gets so mad at an audience when they rudely ignore the act on stage. but this is a different situation. honestly, he’d be doing the same thing unless something really caught his attention. he can only hope he can manage to turn a few heads himself.
the music starts (thank god; he’s had issues with poor music systems before) and their dance begins. jinyoung thrives. sensual, slow, but still somehow totally appropriate for the summer season. he rides the rhythm with a measured practice, his expressions transforming to match the mood. he picks a face in the crowd, someone who made the decision to lend him their attention, and he makes wordless promises that makes it impossible for them to look away. jinyoung doesn’t hold in his smirk, pleased at the way he hypnotizes a stranger with his movement and expressions, before searching for another and doing the same. he bounces between strangers in the audience, capturing each of them just for the few minutes that they dance. the spell will be over soon, the moment broken. but for now, he shares something with them. completely silent, yet never more expressive.
jinyoung’s out of breath by the time the music fades out, their performance over. they stand still for a few moments, letting it sink in. that connection with the audience fades slowly, eyes turning off of them and back to whatever they were doing before. jinyoung can only smile. he loves this, even as the magic starts to fade away.
