Genuinely miss performing this show. I miss creating the biggest splashes to the crowd’s delight, even if it wasn’t someone else’s cup of tea. I miss dancing up at the surf shack with @zacharytmurray because that was the highlight of the show. I miss rushing out of the girls number, drying off and changing into a full outfit, and then being the first one to run back on stage for the dance medley. I miss singing these songs on stage. I miss the little moments with cast and crew that were uniquely ours. I miss being so extremely exhausted after 4 shows and yet still not exhausted enough to not enjoy the glow of another day on the stage. I miss being Sandi, (always with an I). I took up the uke because of this show, and I still play it every day. I’ve been singing “Surfin’ USA” all summer. I wear my scrunchie with nostalgic happiness. When I was given the chance to return to Beach Blanket Beagle I wanted it to be better than my first year. When I did the show before, I realized that there were some people and some tracks that my character never saw or interacted with, and interactions are everything in a show. So this year I found a way to have a moment with everyone, from my cast on stage to the crew in the wings, to prepping for each run and hanging out backstage, I was able to find a special moment with the people that made this show possible. I laughed SO HARD during almost every show because I was having so much fun. From giggles in the cabanas to reciting epic poems for mic check, from nerd chats in the hallways while I connected to the internet to shadow puppets in the girls room during “sleepover nap time”. Funny faces in the wings, hiding baskets to make sure we each took our swings, ukulele jam sessions and finding my different Snoopy moments with our favorite dawg. Playing with coins, surprising each other on stage, grinning from the audience, and farting before shows. Even on the days when the things outside were weighing heavy on my shoulders I could now my head in the dressing room and know that I could lean on the girls for support. This is my favorite photo in the two years of doing this show. We have CLEARLY done something stupid, and we are CLEARLY on the brink of crying from laughter. It’s hot and humid and the AC is out in the theater, but you know what? I haven’t stopped laughing during a show since Sunday, so at least all that exhaustion is earned with joy! 🎼 I met him on a Monday and my heart stood still, Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron 🎷 The a whole lot of summer fun going on at @KnottBerryFarm! You don't want to miss the fabulous beachy musical "Beach Blanket Beagle". The music is reminiscent of the 60s and will have you rocking to the beat in your seat. And... the theatre is air conditioned! Our favorite song and dance is "Da Do Run Run" when the girls sing and dance all while kicking ankle deep water all over each other and... the front rows of the audience! It is SO much fun! In this photo our granddaughter and her bestie are sitting in the front row. They were warned of the splash zone and enjoyed every minute of it.
