These are the rules: 1) rule one: always post the rules, 2) rule two: answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones, 3) tag 11 people and link them to the post, and 4) actually tell them you tagged them.
As always, if you're interested, consider yourself tagged.
1. What TV show do you watch every week?
I don't watch anything in real time anymore--if I ever meet the person who invented the DVR I'll kiss them square on the mouth--but I definitely have must-watch shows. When I have access to it, True Blood is like crack. Early this fall, I discovered Shameless and barreled through all three seasons in record time. It's delightfully cathartic to watch a single mom (-esque) character with way bigger problems than me.
2. Who’s the best Star Trek captain?
I think I have to say Picard. I will always have affection for William Shatner, who reminds me of my father, but Picard was the captain I knew growing up. I have solid memories of my mother folding laundry in front of Next Generation. And I will admit I find Patrick Stewart a little foxy.
3. What would you ask for as your birthday dinner?
My requests tend to rotate through Thai, Italian, and Chinese, but I definitely prefer to go out on my birthday. Somewhere with an actual tablecloth is preferable.
4. Where in the world would you like to visit?
I could be here all day with this question. I lost a lot of time married to someone who suddenly decided he'd "outgrown traveling." (What?! To me, that's like saying you've outgrown wearing pants.) My list is so long, I'll need to look into cryogenics if I hope to fit it all in.
5. Favorite article of clothing?
Dresses or jeans, depending on my mood (and the temperature).
6. What book are you reading now?
I'm embarrassed to say none. I read at least two books to Adelaide every day, but I think the last book I read for me was late summer when I reread The Hunger Games trilogy for the (fourth? fifth?) time. I'm way overdue. Actually, an old writing professor got in touch via LinkedIn recently and I've been meaning to see if he's published anything new (and start reading it) before getting in touch. Thanks for the reminder!
7. Favorite film?
Jeez. Do people have only one favorite film? A few that come to mind: Away We Go, Poltergeist, Meet Joe Black, Love Actually, Billy Elliot, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Wow, that's a random list. My brain must be on shuffle.
8. If you could temporarily live in any fictional world, what would it be?
Although I'd enjoy living in a fictional world that included monsters--vampires and werewolves and so on--the first thing that sprang to mind was the fictional world of Joss Whedon's Firefly. If you're not familiar, it's like futuristic space travel meets Wild West meets various aspects of Asian culture . . . meets a young Nathan Fillion in very tight pants. I think the tight pants are influencing my answer.
9. What are you most passionate about?
Adelaide
10. What’s your favorite color?
Green
11. Describe a truly relaxing activity.
shavasana
Your questions, should you choose to accept them:
If you could take a year off (from work, from school, from whatever tethers you) and money were no object, what would you do with your free time?
How difficult would it be for you to go vegan for 6 months?
What do you think about this? Will it actually happen? Would you go if you qualified?
Would it be easier to give up coffee or chocolate?
What's your favorite part of the day?
What have you always wanted to learn to do?
Is there a celebrity you think you resemble?
What small stuff do you sweat?
What is your earliest childhood memory?
When were you the most afraid?
What always makes you smile?
