Beach Nesting Birds: The Birds of Summer - A Fascinating Exploration of New Jersey's Shorebirds
EAST BRUNSWICK, [July 6th, 2023] — Join an engaging presentation on the unique biology and behavior of New Jersey's beach nesting shorebirds during the upcoming event, "Beach Nesting Birds: The Birds of Summer." This educational program will shed light on the challenges faced by biologists in protecting endangered species and the latest management strategies employed to ensure their recovery.
The event, scheduled for July 13 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, will delve into the lives of various beach nesting shorebirds found along New Jersey's coast, including the piping plover, the least tern, black skimmers, and American oyster catchers. Attendees will gain insights into the fascinating characteristics and behaviors of these avian species, as well as the efforts undertaken to safeguard them in the face of the state's bustling tourist-filled beaches.
Presented by Todd Pover, a Senior Wildlife Biologist for the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey, this program promises a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experiences. With over 30 years of involvement in researching and managing beach nesting birds, particularly the piping plover, Todd brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for conservation to the discussion. He is a proud alumnus of Rutgers University.
