Previously, making brief appearances at the local country club had been a loathsome experience for Scott. From a young age, he was dressed up in the club's pristinely white sports uniform, paraded about and made to play sports that he just seemed to lack entire interest in. All these years his mother simply told him to just grin and bare it for it was the only time his father wanted to spend anytime with him. Though, still utterly disliking his father, Scott would do anything if it meant it kept his mother happy and well; what kind of son would Scott be if he didn’t let his father see him?
However things began to change pretty rapidly for both Scott and his father when two new faces joined the clubs elite ranks (what a load of tosh). The Martin’s. Scott had immediately pegged them as the wrong sort and actively tried to avoid them at all costs but that became all too hard when his father began to develop a relationship with the mother; plus he shared the same class with the son at school.
But with the constant battles of tennis or lunches to discuss tennis further, Scott actually developed a liking for a pair. Hell, he even got along with Linden - the son - pretty well and in the end, attending the Club didn’t seem to be such an internal struggle anymore.
Finishing a training session alongside his father, they went to gather their things before making their way across the courtyard to lunch with the Martin’s once more. On their approach, Scott noticed the pair seated at the tables under the canopies and waved out of courtesy. However, eyes wandered to the empty chair beside Liden and he’d already told himself that he was claiming that spot.
