A little old, but this was my submission for Adam Elmakias’ #beAphotographer1 challenge.
Self Portrait: I came across a quote once that said all people are a collection of the people they meet, the places they go, the music they listen to, and the stories they hear. That quote really stuck with me, so for self-portrait I showed a collection of the albums, and a few representations of the passions, that I think have shaped me into the person that I am today.
Side note: The day after posting this I woke up to a lovely comment from another one of my heroes, the magnificent Mr. Thomas Falcone 😍
Be a photographer - Challenge 2 “Window Light”
Morecambe / July 14th 2016, 3:20PM
I don’t mean for the photos to be so dark, as in lighting wise, i just think there’s more emotion with low key imaging, don’t ask me why but its a personal opinion. When i was constructing this image i didn't have much to work with given the challenge, it was hard as the sun doesn't shine through my house as it should because of the angle the house is built on, so the window light was more controlled and toned. As i was think about what i could capture i took to my window and noticed little details scattered about the glass, and i remembered this time when i was little, i was getting bullied at school, not gonna lie, i was a chubby kid, but regardless i had friends, and at the moment before i looked out of the window i felt alone, and just shit about myself... until i looked out the window, to which my three best friends were there. this photo represents that first stage, then no matter how dark, or alone you feel at any point, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. - William
