I had a dream where Joe Rogan was famous for being a bear attack survivor and did tons of interviews about his experience and recovery.
Black Bear Attack
So, I am re-watching the movie Backcountry on Netflix, and having consumed nothing but bear attack content for the past week in preparation for a bear safety presentation this morning, y'all are gonna have to listen to me talk about it! (As a quick note: this movie is based off a true story.)
So, first things first: Black bear attacks are incredibly rare. Between 1900 and 2009 in North America there are only 63 recorded deaths by non-captive black bears (Herrero et al. 2011)
Her muscles burn with exertion, she drags her leg limply in the snow, her vision blurring. Pain slices through her ribs as a claw tears the air out of her lungs, knocking her to the ground. The bear's breath hot against her face, so close she sees her reflection in its eyes. Time stands still. Taking a deep breath, she makes her peace with her fate. A shot rings out, breaking the wintry silence. Howling, the beast falls. "Here she is!" Relief fills her soul just before her vision fades to black.
There’s so much whump in this tiny little tat! I love it!
I am going to make a blog where I make tier lists of the YTTD characters abilities to do things, first post will be the probability of surviving a bear attack.

STATEMENT
FridayBear does not condone the language used by Elisabeth "Betsy" DeVos during her hearing for Education Secretary on January 17th, 2017. Her comment, regarding the use of firearms to protect American children against “potential grizzlies,” was misinformed, ignorant, and borders on hostile. As of today, there have been no recorded instances of grizzly bear attacks in American public schools, and it would do well for Mrs. DeVos to be mindful of the facts before spouting her inflammatory hate speech towards the grizzly bear population.
confession: every few weeks I search up “Bear Attack” on Google and look at the updates like I’m reading the daily paper.
