trying to get some new mermay art out and decided on some pocket zoras! so here's a lil wip and now I'd like some help deciding if I should go ahead and include Eclipse as well?

oof it's been some time though I feel like I just marked off a day on my calendar and then found out months have passed. I still am working on trying to get back to a normal schedule and to finish up the very lovely asks I've been given for the ask event Trip to the Mega-Zoo (seriously thank you guys so much for sending in asks for me to answer, I really love them and think they can add so much more to a fic/au that I might not have thought to share on my own!) as well as trying to find time to sit and write again. I've got three open commissions that also need worked on but April is almost over which means MerMay is approaching fast!

SO I would like to know, would you guys prefer I stick to working on The Lighthouse Keeper's Keepers first OR would you guys like a new MerMay themed kind of fic?

Unnamed Pirate Eclipse x Ocean Goddess Reader Fic/AU (Start new fic)

[au summary below!]

While not fully flushed out yet, the new one (that has yet to be named) would be very pirate and water goddess based. Pirate DCA x ocean goddess/nymph (Calypso inspired) Reader. A tale of sea crossed lovers who started as childhood friends and a promise of forever that upsets reader's father and forces the two apart. As sign of their promise reader creates and enchants a pearl oyster to offer him, should Eclipse choose to stay with them forever, all he has to do is swallow the pearl that lays inside.

Their father unable to take away the oyster instead curses the pearl inside it, so while Eclipse would still gain immortality, at night he would become a monster no one would aid or love; causing him to painfully lose his humanity with the setting sun to shift into a beast of similar look to that of a sunken shipwreck skeleton--turning the man into the undead more so than immortal.

In order to prove their bond true, a trial was placed upon Eclipse, his memory erased and the teenager sent out unconsciously to sea alone while reader is 'grounded'-- sent to a far away island unable to escape until Eclipse comes to them with each year that passes their memory of Eclipse will fade too, or until reader admits their bond untrue and sacrifices Eclipse's life in the process.

To beat the trial Eclipse must reunite with reader and renew the vow of staying together forever.

Reader's mother, unhappy with her husbands choice but unable to overrule him, sings songs of their tale that become songs of myth, to help remind Eclipse of what he is searching for without breaking the trial. While he doesn't know the songs are about him, each time he hears them sung they strike a cord within him.

Years come and go as Eclipse tries to piece together why he was stranded on a small dinghy with no memory of how he got there, he's rescued and cast away in a repeat of cycles until he manages to stumble upon a certain foxy pirate crew willing to give him a proper chance and life skills to make it on his own.

He sails the seas in search of what his heart is seeking, gaining a reputation and fame for being a fierce treasure hunting pirate trying to find the one final treasure that he needs to feel whole again and doing whatever he feels he must to achieve it.

All the while Reader is doing their best to escape from the island on their own, refusing to even think about sacrificing Eclipse, believing in their bond no matter how much time passes.

until finally one day, they find their escape attempt works and crash into a large ship with force as wild as the stormy seas, but with no memory of who exactly it was they were trying to get back to.

With a desperate plea to this ship's captain and a promise of granting his ship perfect weather for sailing as long as he helps them find who they're searching for, they join up with the pirate crew to set sail towards their goal.

Enjoying and despising all the new experiences and relationships they gain along the way and fighting against the current of their heart to stay true to their bond.
