The Bear & The Piano at Camp Bestival
This past weekend was absolutely brilliant as my friends and family travelled to Dorset to perform at Camp Bestival.
On Friday we pitched up all day in the Dingly Dell forest on site. Once there we dressed up as Bears and busked to people who were passing by. I also read The Bear & The Piano to a number of kids and we also had a chance to do some art workshops. Despite the rain and mud -and the fact that we looked like total, total idiots- we had a really great time and met lots of lovely people.
My friends who were in my Bear Band are called Gareth and Rebecca and about 10 years ago we started a really cool band called Tinker Jack. The band ended a few years ago but it makes me laugh to think that if I could go back and tell them that one day we would all dress up in bear onesies and sing ‘Bear Necessities’ in a forest in Dorset, I don’t think they would believe me. :)
Anyway, this was so much more fun than anything our old indie/folk/rock band ever did. And to top it all off, we even made the official festival T-shirt. And it really doesn’t get much cooler than that :)
p.s. Camp Bestival really is absolutely brilliant. If you like festivals and have kids you should definitely go next year. Heartily recommended by all the Litchfield’s big and small :)
