Beast Liger (custom, Zoids Wild)

Ive had a few of the Wild Kits hanging around but hadn't really built or looked at one just yet. Decided to start with the most recent kit I have, the Beast Liger. And it’s very nice, I really like the ‘modular’ design, where you can have it naked or armoured, depending on what you like best.

The gimmick is pretty cute too, the main claw assembly on its back flips forward and flicks its gold claws. It’s just an easy, pleasant build and an aesthetic thats 100% my jam.

of course I had to paint and detail it, using a mix of metallic underlay colours and then a coat of holographic powder to get that funky dichromatic colour change.

Dengeki Hobby posted some screenshots of the upcoming anime series, Zoids Wild Zero. In addition, the anime site just updated with a story page, including a look at the story premise.

Zoids are metal lifeforms with the will to fight, which live on the far side of the galaxy. With their planet coming to its end, mankind aimed for Earth as a second home, but due to runaway Zoid Factors and an unforeseen time warp, Zoids suddenly appeared on 21st century Earth. Earth was temporarily devastated by repeated tectonic shifts and destruction from the Zoids. Leo excavates the Beast Liger, and with it as his partner, he sets out on an adventure with a girl called Sally that will affect the future of Earth.

Falcarius was kind enough to provide the above translation for the story page~ We’ve been hearing a few notes through various interviews that they’ll be focusing on why Zoids exist on Earth, and uncovering the back story behind them.

These interviews included other notes about the Wild series in general, such as that the Beast Liger is not a distinct evolution of the Wild Liger, but rather another variety of the same species. Two distinguished varieties of the same animal that evolved at different times, in different places, for different purposes. 

This adds some intrigue to the different varieties of Liger, like this brand new one above. Combined with a strong emphasis on customization, Zero is shaping up to be a promising addition to the franchise, meeting many requests from older fans. The director, lead writer, and character designer are the same who worked on earlier series CC and NC0, with the music composer from Genesis and Wild.
