After further examination, I believe that Beatrix might actually be a european paper wasp, and not a yellow jacket. The ring pattern on her abdomen doesn't match a standard yellow jacket.

If this is true I'm less worried about seeing her outside, because paper wasps are much less aggressive than yellow jackets. This also explains why she's been so chill with me watching her.
