There are many musical apps out there, too many. If you want a beat slicer or a sampler at your fingertips, your options are endless. There is the problem of having too much choice though – it’s like trying to find a toothbrush in your pharmacy. The entire aisle is flooded with brands and name with pretty colors so it is hard to figure out what will be the best bet. Rarely does a program come along that does with others claim to do, while adding something original that isn’t a gimmick. Ninja Jamm is one of those rare apps that cross the boundary between app and game. Instead of being a game built around music (and many of these exist as well), it is a music making app that uses sampler technology with a bit of a kick. The visual aspects here are non-linear and offer a way to essentially play with music. We shouldn’t automatically assume that since music can be played with it is merely a toy, but instead it can actually be used to produce something half decent.
