i'm just gonna hit you with fun facts about them in a vague timeline!!! warning i am half asleep and some of this might be nsfw or whatnot!!:
• as you know because you read the fics they met at edens but ALSO they have gone back together (but separately) to roleplay their first meeting over and over again, giving each other notes at first as though they were perfecting their game for other people. some "your fuck me eyes were a little too heavy here" and "actually kevin having a hook up business card is a great idea" "really" "if you want your number leaked then yeah big shot". their fuckbuddy days were just practice for thea kevin told himself but ethan was new at flirtinng and came from a shitty upbringing where his best friend became his brother figure and also the only person he cared to talk to outside of his squad. kevin giving him tips became bittersweet as he fell in love but nonetheless useful when it came to making kevin feel as unimportant as he felt some days.
• as you may also know from reading the fics, katelyn is ethan's closest friend outside of rio (said bestie and brother figure) whoch means ethan sees a lot of aaron when the two of them decide to take their relationship more seriously. the two are close, play video games together and mutually love kate to the best of their ability. ethan has asked aaron if he wanted him to kick his brother's ass for him a few times which always makes aaron's shoulders slump and loosen because to find someone who didn't see andrew as a real threat outside of the emotional pain he causes aaron felt like a relief. aaron actually gives kevin a shovel talk despite himself when kevin gets his act together and actually asks ethan out for real. a real "hey kev. remember how i killed that guy for hurting someone i care about. not a question, a reminder." kind of thing that makes kevin splutter and scoff like "yeah well it's not like i plan on RAPING ETHAN, you PRICK." and he just shrugs and moves on.
• their first date is at a denny's that ethan's family was banned from but post transition they don't recognize him as a carbonetti. kevin acts like he is too good for denny's (which, i mean... most upstanding people are) but it hurts ethan's feelings because denny's nights were some of the only times his family felt like a group of people that loved each other. it was always where he went when he had the money and was just plain happy, and all he wanted was to share that with him. kevin apolgizes theough his teeth bit just eats a salad and rushes the check anyway. he plays innocent footsies with eth under the table though and lets ethan eat a sundae as slowly as his horribly brain frozen abilities would let him. all in all a 6/10 first date. they have had better and worse firsts together.
• they have sex. a lot. kevin was ethan's first time while ethan is well. Not His. but the d/s aspects of their relationship are new for both of them. they're switches each which is fun but at first they rely heavily on daddy macho mean dom kevin and bratty sub who doesn't listen well ethan. this goes to soft yet firm dom kevin and still a brat but one who just wants to be good sub ethan. and by their late thirties it is soft dom bottom ethan and pillow princess top kevin. these r not concrete and they love exploring WITH EACH OTHER. they try an open relationship in their late twenties and find out they don't enjoy that as much ahaha (Ethan clocks a guy for leaving a hickey on kevin before a game once which ends in a pregnancy scare if you catch my drift) (kevin sits at home and gets drunk jsut to silent treatment ethan for the night and by the morning things r as normal as ever between them)
• rio ends up being someone that both andrew and neil enjoy (in their own little fucked up way) so they end up keeping those two busy while kev and eth hook up in the beginning. andrew respects ethan but doesn't "necessarily like him" while neil and him end up being good friends.
• when kevin graduates, ethan drops out to follow him across the country like a groupie following their favorite rock band. when kevin signs with a pro team, ethan tries out for that teams cheerleading squad. not every team is ready to deal with a Transsexual on their squad and the publicity and politics of that so neil gets ethan crochet needles and ethan makes his own cheer costumes to cheer kevin on from whatever vip box they end up putting him in. (having an intensely monogamous relationship with the son of exy has its perks) he makes friends with the girls from the cheer squad AND the team and is invited to team gatherings, AND ends up going to more of them than kevin does.
• they get pretty serious about wanting kids by the time the olympics comes about for them. they work to adopt a little girl who is already a few years old (amalia) but at the same time ethan falls pregnant with a little boy (kaleb). they move forward with Both. they move back home to south carolina to raise the girls around wymack and the foxes nd vixens as the only family they both trust with an endeavor quite this big and it takes a village but they have one and both children are loved dearly.
• eventually, after exy has taken its toll on kevin's body, ethan urges him to become a history professor at psu. they are still 40 going to edens to roleplay their first meeting, giving notes all the while "don't you think you come off a little desperate? want me to blow you? you didn't even have a car to drive me back to your dorm..." "first of all, i didn't see You offering up any backseats! and second, i really would have just blown you in the bathroom have you seen yourself at twenty one????" "hey! i'm just as goodlooking now ahaha right? right???" (cue ethan dragginghim out to uber home because god bless the technological advancements they grew up without)
