The elevated subway lines in Brooklyn and Queens are some of the realest #NewYorkCity looking places I can think of. They belong to the kind of NYC you imagine in your mind before arriving, but in reality, they’re just as cinematic and special. About 10 years ago I looked at an apartment facing directly onto the JMZ line in South Williamsburg (pictured here) and I think the rent was something like $950 a month. I’m sure it would be twice as much now but it was a bargain at the time because of the noise...
