Water fountain by Tony Via Flickr: Donating drinking fountains was considered one of the best philanthropic ways to give back to society, as clean drinking water was not easily sourced in Victorian towns. The fountain was donated in memory of Charles Hill, a Liverpool cotton broker who died in 1879. This is the original site for the structure, it was moved to Mayer park close by in 1905, then re-erected at the original site at the junction of Heath Road and The Village in Bebington Village in 1997
