“ I’m just here for the r e f r e s h m e n t s. “
five times kissed
send me five times kissed for a drabble about five times our muses kissed
Her heart is beating like a drum inside her chest as anger seems to shoot through her veins and she has to clench her fists at her sides. Green eyes are dark with anger as Aubrey inhales deeply through flared nostrils. She’s so angry she can’t even think of a good retort and that fucking smirk —- Beca looks so smug, arms crossed and one brow raised as if waiting.
“God Beca, you’re so—-so—-!” Her brain searches for an appropriate word but she comes up empty. She can feel her cheeks burning and whether it’s from anger or embarrassment, she can’t be sure.
Beca just smirks more, as she holds out her hands in a sort of ‘come at me’ motion. “So what, Aubrey? Did I break you? Can’t think of a—-“
The distinct sound of piano keys blaring out hard notes echos throughout the auditorium as Aubrey shoves Beca back onto the edge of the keys, delicate yet strong fingers gripping the back of the shorter girl’s neck as the blonde surges forward in a bruising kiss. Beca sucks in such a sharp breath that it cools Aubrey’s lips as her free hand grabs the fabric of the brunette’s shirt, pulling her closer.
Aubrey can feel Beca’s body stiffen and when she pulls back there is a shocked look on the alt girl’s face, mouth opening and closing, cobalt colored eyes wide. Aubrey smirks. “That shut you up.” She murmurs, licking her lips. She turns on her heel, satisfied to have had the last word and to have finally done that — she’d worry about the repercussions later… Or maybe not, knowing Beca, she’d probably bury it deep and never bring it up again.
It’s just after Aubrey has dismissed the Bellas that Beca saunters up, a frown on her face. “I thought you said you weren’t going to step on my toes!” Beca snaps. Aubrey sets her water bottle down on the table and furrows her brows.
“I didn’t, Beca. I’m fairly certain we did things your way, just like you wanted — I’m just helping.” The former captain replies curtly.
Beca narrows her eyes. “You’re so damn frustrating!”
Aubrey lets out a laugh. “That’s calling the kettle black. You—” But she doesn’t get a chance to finish her sentence as Beca shoves her roughly against the wall, pinning her. Their lips are inches apart, so close Aubrey can feel Beca’s breath ghosting over her skin. Her heart races and something coils in the pit of her stomach. She waits with baited breath, afraid to move, afraid Beca won’t go through with it.
—But then Beca is kissing her, only it’s not rough like Aubrey had thought it would be. The DJ moves her lips languidly against the blondes and Aubrey nearly melts. Her hands automatically move to the belt loops of Beca’s jeans to pull her forward, deepening the kiss.
Beca is the first to pull back, face flushed and lips a little swollen. She clears her throat. “Uh — I should —-” She juts her thumb behind her. “—Go” And go she does, leaving Aubrey flustered, hurt and confused.
The fire is just beginning to die down, the embers are bright as they spark and crackle. Aubrey is the last of them out here, the rest of the girls having gone to bed. It’d been down to her and Chloe but Chloe had yawned and bid her a goodnight over 30 minutes ago.
Something about the stars tonight has made Aubrey want to stay a little bit longer. Or maybe it’s the quiet melancholy that has taken residence inside her chest. She’s missed the Bellas. Even Beca.
Beca who she had kissed -- who had kissed her. What had she been thinking? Aubrey shakes her head slightly. She hadn’t been thinking.
The wind picks up a bit, sending a light shiver through Aubrey as she watches the fire’s flames flicker in the night. She’s lost in thought when she feels a blanket being draped over her bare shoulders. Glancing up, she sees Beca taking a seat beside her on the log. “You looked cold.” The brunette mumbles, not looking at the blonde.
Aubrey bites the inside of her cheek as she watches the way the flame’s shadows dance across Beca’s face and light up her eyes. “You’re staring.” Beca says without taking her eyes away from the fire. Aubrey doesn’t say anything, just takes her eyes back to the fire.
After a moment, Aubrey can feel Beca’s eyes on her. “Now you’re staring.” She says, turning her head to meet dark blue eyes. When Beca just continues to stare, Aubrey swallows thickly. “What?” She tries to make her voice sound harsh but the way Beca is staring at her makes her heart beat a little faster so her voice shakes slightly.
“Why’d you kiss me?” Beca suddenly asks.
If her heart wasn’t beating fast enough before, Aubrey is sure it’s loud enough that even Beca can hear it. She glances away for a moment, trying to buy herself some time. “I don’t know.” She finally says, because she doesn’t. There had just been a feeling. “Why’d you kiss me?” Aubrey quirks a brow as she brings her gaze back to Beca.
“Because I wanted to see if I really felt something or if it was... I don’t know, a fluke.” Beca shrugs and Aubrey blinks.
“And?” She’s surprised by the hope she feels, by the butterflies in her stomach. But she doesn’t get an answer--at least not the verbal kind because before she can prod Beca for an answer again, the smaller woman is cupping her face and bringing her in for a slow, sweet kiss.
Aubrey can’t help but lean into it, one hand moving to cup the back of Beca’s neck. When they pull back, there is a smirk on Beca’s face. “That answer your question?”
“So, I’ll see you later tonight, right?” Beca glances around nervously and Aubrey can tell she’s unsure about all of this still. She doesn’t blame her, because honestly Aubrey still isn’t sure either.
The blonde nods. “Yeah. Tonight. Don’t be late.” She says the last part sternly and it makes Beca smirk. “I mean it, Beca.” She tries to glare but Beca’s stupid smirk is infections and she can’t help but smile at the shorter girl.
“You can’t be mad at me if I am --- I happen to know you like me.” Beca says cockily.
Aubrey rolls her eyes. “Just don’t be late, hobbit.” She looks around once before she grips the front of Beca’s plaid shirt and pulls her in for a quick but rough kiss. “Or you won’t get anymore of that.”
They win. The Bellas win the World Championships and Aubrey can’t help but feel proud. She’s standing backstage watching them accept their award but Beca hands the trophy over to Stacie and Chloe and turns to look at Aubrey. Beca’s smile is so wide and sends a warm feeling throughout Aubrey’s chest.
The blonde goes to wave but she’s surprised to see Beca jogging over to her and then suddenly she’s enveloped in the DJ’s arms and being pulled down for a searing kiss.
What doesn’t register with either of them is that the crowd has gotten louder because apparently a cameraman has followed Beca and so have the other Bellas.
“Told you, pay up twig bitches.” Fat Amy holds out her hands while the other Bellas groan and place 20s in her outstretched palms.
Chloe is grinning and squealing like some sort of fangirl but then she clears her throat and steps up beside them. “You guys know you’re kissing on national television, right?”
That’s when they both snap out of their trance and pull back but then Beca just shrugs and pulls Aubrey back in for another kiss.
Aubrey wasn't sure what she was doing here or how Chloe managed to convince her to do this and most of all how she managed to convince Beca to do this... The blonde supposed it was her friendship with Chloe that ultimately convinced herself -- and that she had missed the Bellas. But Beca ... there had to have been some form of blackmail or possibly Chloe's irresistible Disney Princess eyes that even Aubrey herself couldn't say no to. But it was no secret that Beca didn't like this whole plan and if it was a secret, the brunette was terrible at hiding it, but Aubrey doubted Beca was trying at all.
Despite the tension on the bus, Aubrey still felt a little excited to be back with the Bellas again. After she graduated from Barden she had been accepted to Harvard Law where she was currently in her Second year and doing well, even with the heavy work load, but Aubrey liked a challenge. But at the moment she was taking a break and doing her classes online in order to help the Bellas. They had to win the World Championships just to be reinstated and apparently that was where Aubrey came in.
The bus came to a lurching halt, bringing Aubrey out of her thoughts. She glanced around at all of the Bellas before she stood up and moved to the front. "Welcome to Aca-pella boot camp, ladies. Grab your stuff, and we'll get settled."
Once everyone was settled into the large cabin, Aubrey made her way over to Beca, one brow quirking. "Still think you don't need me?" She asked, voice even and steady. The words had hurt Aubrey back when Beca had told her they didn't need her, but she refused to admit it or show it. "I'm honestly surprised you haven't somehow managed to talk Chloe out of my helping you." She looked away and watched the girls interact, waiting for one of Beca's sarcastic quips.
