I get so aggressively defensive of ACOFAS when people say it sucked because I know they only think that because they expected it to be more than it was meant to be. Like, it was never advertised as the next epic chapter in the story so IDK why everyone is so pressed about it being more chill than the first three books. It’s a novelette, a glimpse into what was happening with the characters between the third book and the next book. It’s supposed to bridge them together and make it so that where we see the characters next makes sense after the end of ACOWAR. I just can’t get behind people calling it a waste or terrible just because it wasn’t on the same scale as the first three books. Just about all the conflict in ACOFAS was internal, which is not a bad thing, and we got some really great insights into the characters and some interesting set ups for the next books. And that is literally what ACOFAS was supposed to do. That was it’s purpose. If you expected more from it and were therefore disappointed then I’m sorry. But you placed the expectations of a 400-700 page book on a 250 page novelette, so honestly what did you expect??
