“Ellie, can you please help your sister finish getting ready?”

“Ellie, your mother and I have told you, I’m not your father. So please don’t call me that.”

Ellie longed for the relationship Becka had with Arthur. When Emily got pregnant with Ellie, the father left and hasn't shown any interest in his daughter. Arthur and Emily were able to relate to each other from both having children missing one parent. But both Emily and Arthur also wanted things to be clear for their children on who their missing parents were. Arthur would never be Ellie's "dad"; on the other hand, Emily would never be Ben's "mom." However, this was more difficult for Ellie to understand because her father chose to be absent from her life.

“We’re fine Arthur...how are Norah and Bethany?”

“They were good, she looks enough like me, I think she’s mine but....she looks a lot like Norah. The test results should be back this afternoon so we know for sure.”
